Summary: The Best Fantasy Book
Review: All I have to say is this is one great fantasy book

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Awesome book
Review: Circle of Light #1: Greyfax Grimwald is an adventurous read. It is similar to the Lord of the Rings saga. It is the first of four books, and once you read the first, you have to read the other three books. It is a spectacular journey deserving of a 4 out of 5.

Summary: Deservedly out of print
Review: Hancock creates some delightful and humorous characters in this highly entertaining story. The personification of bears, otters and other creatures may sound childish, but the characters are memorable, believable and well developed. Although many of the character's names are simply derivates of Tolkien's, I think this was done for amusement (as the series has very comic overtones and isn't at all dark and dreary). The storyline and characters are unique and Hancock's `Circle of Light' series stands as one of the best fantasy epics - with a humorous twist.

Summary: Great series of books, of which this is the first
Review: I first read this what seems like a long long time ago now. I read it more recently and still think it's great. Part Tolkien, part "Wind in the Willows," with a dash of philosophy and war experiences. Characters you get to know and care about. I like this a lot better than practically all the fantasy trilogies and such out today. I'm sorry it's lapsed out of print.

Summary: The best fantasy book I have ever read
Review: I found this book in a second-hand book store and have spent the last 5 years looking for the others titles in the series. The kind of book you're sad to see come to an end. The fairy tale quality of the book makes it an excellent bedtime story for children and adults. I loved it!

Summary: If you liked Lord of the Rings, you will like this series!
Review: I guarantee if you liked books like the Lord of the Rings, or anything by David Eddings, you will like these books. There are wizards and magic, only the main characters are animals instead of hobbits.

Summary: It's been a long time coming to see my orphan books again.
Review: I have always loved the fact that all my characters have moved from my house into those of my readers. I miss them from time to time, but when I finally got on this place, it was like old home week, and I look forward to talking to old readers, or anyone who is interested in the newest of the books, "THE BRANDIGORE GATE', which is currently looking for a publisher. Dwarf, Otter, and Bear drop in from time to time, as does Froghorn and Greyfax. They would be happy to speak to any old or new friends. The first of "THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT", which is "Greyfax Grimwald" and "Faragon Fairingay" is currently being published in Holland, and the other titles will soon follow. The books enjoyed a good run in Germany and Japan, and only began to disappear when Warner Books, Inc. took over the publications. Bad marketing on their part finally drove the entire thirteen volume saga, "THE ATLANTON JOURNALS", out of print. "THE WILDERNESS OF FOUR", "DRAGON WINTER", AND "THE WINDAMEIR CIRCLE" are at this moment being shopped around for a new home with a publisher. Perhaps with exposure here, this will happen.

Summary: Reprinted at long last!
Review: I originally bought the four books in this series back in the mid seventies, and am glad to be able to replace them now with new, much-less-tattered editions.

I highly recommend this series (and Hancock's other Atlanton Earth books) because of the twists he takes on the idea-starved, high fantasy tradition such as sometimes having animals as talking, leading characters, and mixing gun play in with the normal sword and sorcery action. Additionally, Hancock does what many fantasy authors have forgotten: creates a living, breathing world filled with rich characters that you actually care about! Enjoy this series...and hope they bring his other books back into print as well!
