Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: This book gives a great perspective on some of the things that peolpe try to pull over on children and how many are smarter than we think. It also shows how they were able to get out of they physical and mental restraints. This book was great and I plan to buy it and I hope for a sequel
Rating: Summary: great summer reading Review: this book is among the best ive read i loved all the plot twists the only annoying thing is the patwa. i hope there is a sequel
Rating: Summary: The 'Peb" srtikes with the world! Review: This book starts in Australia and sends you on a whirling journey into e. The writer, Gillian Rubenstein, has created a marvel. The only problem with this book is that, by American understandings, it does not allow us to accurately view Australian culture. A very fine book, however, and I hope to see more from this author in the future.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Ever!!! Review: This book totally blew me away!I've read it three times and everytime it just gets gets better!i'm not usually into science-fiction but this book was writtten so well that it really had me believing in Project Genesis 5. the characters were so well developed that i felt as if i knew them all myself, although i obviously don't, i'd LOVE to meet them! this is definitly one of the best books on earth and if u are reading this now then ORDER IT because it will change the way u think about things!:)
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, but who cares? Review: This book was entertaining, but the author's not at the end of the book totally ruined it for me. She made it sound like it was a brain-child, and all important symbol for our lives, that she'd toiled over and conquered like she was George Orwell or something. Well, I seriously don't mean to sound aloof or overly critical, but it really was dumb. It was predictable and forgettable, also. The characters were interesting, the whole plot was interesting but it kind of left me with the feeling, "who cares?" This book seemed to try to be realistic, but in the process made it even less realistic. The kids were so eager, it seemed, to believe that they were in space and totally dismissed the fact that space travel was a science fiction element. This book couldn't decide whether it was sci fi or realistic fiction. I didn't get what it was trying to say, even though the author was so generous to explain it to us at the end. Seriously, the author's note at the end ruined it for me.
Rating: Summary: My favourite book of all time! Review: This book was incredible. I was completely gripped by it, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. I couldn't sleep until I had found out how it ended. The characters were complex and interesting, the storyline was original and compelling, and I had a very vivid picture of what the characters and the places mentioned would have looked like. I was literally transported to another place when reading it..I have never read anything so good in my life. I read the Space Demons trilogy, which I loved, but I have to say Galax Arena is the best book I have ever read. I look forward to reading much more of Rubinstein's work.
Rating: Summary: Galax-Arena Review: This is a book about Joella, her sister Liaine, and her brother Peter. They are kidnaped from Earth to preform for the alien race, the Vexa. There they find twenty other children who call themselves the "peb". They are forced to preform death defying gymnastic stunts for the Vexa who thrive off of their fear and espically their death. But Joella is no Gymnast and is sent to be a pet for one of the Vexa. There she discovers the terrible truth about the Vexa. I liked the way that Ms. Rubinstein explained the emotioans and the thoughts of the characters. The only thing that was a bit hard to follow was the language the Peb spoke. Other than that I thought it was a marvolus book and would recomend it to anyone who likes Si-fi or action.
Rating: Summary: Getting away with murder? Review: This is a book you will either love or hate. The story, while intriguing and very believable, deals with a very dark side of humanity. Although it may be a warning to youth that in their innocence they can be subject to manipulation and control by devious, evil-minded adults, does this justify their committing murder and getting away with it? I am horrified at the message that this book conveys!
Rating: Summary: best book ever Review: this is my favorite book! or 1 of them- i read almost constantly & this is one of THE best books i have ever read. if u haven't already, get the book. NOW. & i want to say something about th reveiw at the very bottom of the page. this isn't a book about austrailian culture, it's about some kids who get kidnapped, etc. not austrailia! my word, ugh...anyway, get the book.
