Summary: Is That You, Al Calavicci??
Review: I must say, I was deeply disappointed in this book. First of all, it starts out with all these petty little fights between Sam and Al. Sam is a crab throughout the entire novel. And Al's character was totally wrecked. It was swear after swear after swear. The plot was rather drawn out, and the only thing I really enjoyed about the book was the background on Donna Alessi and Sam Beckett. The author really got in touch with her feelings & thoughts about Sam and the project. But I wouldn't rush out and buy this one. Try "Foreknowledge" or "Angels Unaware" first.

Summary: Obsessions: Intriguing, thoughtful. . .awesome
Review: I thought this was an excellent book. In and of itself, the plot isn't a new idea, but the portrayal was very well done. Granted, this isn't something that could have happened on TV, but that's part of the point of writing novels: to show what could have happened if...

Some of the language was a bit crude, but I thought the characterization was good. After all, Sam has leaping for several
years, which is bound to be exhausting, both physically and emotionally--not to mention stressful. As for Al...his best friend has been trapped in time for years and then, out of nowhere, here comes this woman who is claiming to be Sam Beckett's long-lost wife. I think that situation calls for a little emotional detachment. All in all, I thought this was a wonderful book.

Summary: Don't bother with this one.
Review: The author of this book created totally different characters to the names of Sam and Al. Sam was uncharacteristically dirty minded and grumpy and Al was unusually violent and cold. The history of Sam's and Donna's romance was good, but again, a little questionable in content. The book used unnecessary dirty words and actions to get points across. It was a waste of time to read.

Summary: One of the best!
Review: This book has everything I look for in a Quantum Leap novel. It has an interesting and gripping story, with a twist at the end that, even if it may not be entirely new, is still very entertaining. But what I like even better is how the author manages to provide us with a lot of background for the main characters - Sam, Al, and Donna - throughout the book. We really get into their minds and learn more about their relationships and their motivations, with their characterizations all the while in perfect keeping with the characters as we know them from the TV show. And it is written in a style that I find very entertaining, and so captivating that it was difficult for me to put the book down, even at the second reading. All these ingredients put together make this book one of my favorite QL novels.

Summary: Brilliant Piece of Work
Review: This book is amazing. It ranks as one of the best Quantum Leap novels in my opinion. If you like Quantum Leap, you'll love this! For once, it doesn't focus primarily on Sam but gives some inside information on the other people at Project Quantum Leap. Al is absolutely brilliant, having to deal with what's happening in his time but trying to keep it all from Sam. The characters are spot on and it's actually nice to know that Sam isn't always up-beat and goody, goody all the time, he does have a darker side! It's a shame that Quantum Leap novels aren't being done anymore because I think this author would have produced some good ones.
