Rating: Summary: DON'T READ THIS BOOK! Review: I am a religious man! I do not enjoy being ridiculed and exposed as a hypocrite and that is exactly what this book does. This novel offends my beliefs and makes the clergy appear to be someone who poisons the goverment and cannot be trusted. His spin on the abortion issue puts everyone on the defensive, no matter what thier point of view. I think its author should have been aborted! His book is the work of the devil!
Rating: Summary: reason to reflect Review: The book can be read either as a fairy tale: it has enough excitement and action - or if you start to think - as a story that makes you think about philosophilcal subjects like "right and wrong" and if you start to think about what the different characters could represent, you have a snap shot of the world today.
The language is poetic, and if some words aren't familiar, there's a "cheat" at the end. This is one of the reasons why this novel is great: the intelligence of the author is obvious, but he's not being not elitist: a child could identify with the characters and follow the action, but intellectuals can also find gems hidden in the story. It's a book for all ages.
Rating: Summary: This book is a Masterpiece! Review: The world is fantastically real. The dialogue is great. The foreshadowing of events is mind-bogglingly clever. I'm a critcal reader and the plot surprised me with its seamless flow. The charaters are warm and humorous. I don't know why anybody would hate it unless they discover some hidden truth about their own hypocrisy. This book says more about politics, war, and religion by what it does not say. I applaud the author for having the guts to say what needs to be said using sci-fi as his medium. This book opened my eyes. It's a classic!
Rating: Summary: A Powerful Story Review: This is storytelling at the top of its form. I recommend the hardback edition because this novel has all the ingredients of a modern classic. The resolution to Assha's dilemma of bringing humanity in line with a much greater scheme, despite the fact that Bishop Zonam Solvere will stop at nothing to terminate the life of her unborn child, reveals a satisfying ending to this intriguing and captivating story that teens as well as adults will enjoy reading.
Rating: Summary: This story leads itself....... Review: you just have to sit back and enjoy the ride....
One thing is certain...you've never read a story like this.
On the surface it might seem like your usual science fiction fantasy, but this book will pleasantly surprise you with every turn of the page.
One of the most phenomenal things about this book is the clever aside about the choices people make and how the slightest deviation can change everything from who you are to where you end up in life.
It's an adventure with unforgettable characters that you begin to care about and the world in which it takes place is surreal, yet very familiar.
Beautiful storytelling at it's best. Perfectly illistrated. a true classic....
