Rating: Summary: Action packed , that captures the essence of both groups. Review: Avengers/Thunderbolts By Pierce Askegren was a pleasnt surprise. The story picks up immediately after this months Avengers-T-Bolts meeting in the pages of Avengers #12. There were a few bad points to the book, hence the 4 stars instead of 5, but they were minor inconveniences at best. (Captain America having his real shield, instead of his electronic Photon shield,Wonderman acting like his old WCA Jerk self, instead of the character he matured into, and Vision being taken captive, which tends to be a bit annoying these days, as everyone seems to be able to either harm Vision, or make him thier hostage) The fight scenes were excellent, especially Visions battle with Techno. The Thor battle was exceptional as well. All around a very, very good Marvel Novel. I highly reccomend it.
Rating: Summary: wonderful team-up novel! Review: It's hard to pull off this many characters in one book, but it figures that Askegren can do it. He juggled the FF and Inhumans in the great _Countdown to Chaos_, and he does it here with the Avengers and Thunderbolts. The novel is worthy of Kurt Busiek's best work, and has a _great_ villain team-up of Baron Zemo and Baron Strucker. (Their sword fight at the end is one of the best parts of the book.)
Rating: Summary: Poorly written story Review: Like the Time's Arrow Trilogy, this book also suffers from being too much like a comic in novel form. Too much action and not enough character development. The Thunderbolts is a poorly written comic and the characters there have little need to be used in the novels. Pierce Askegren is a good writer but even he couldn't make this story go in any creative or interesting direction.
Rating: Summary: First novel starring the Avengers in years is great. Review: The Avengers and the Thunderbolts. Two of Marvel's best selling comic books now appear in their own novel, written by Pierce Askegren. The story is well written and moves along at a fast rate. This is the first Marvel novel which serves as a tie in to current stories going on in the comics and it's a smooth transistion from one form of story telling to another. I hope this is the begining of many more Avengers novels to come.
Rating: Summary: Great Comic reading in paperback Review: This book did a fabulous job of transferring what we see in the comics we buy each week into words only and getting it just right. I was very pleased with the author's handling of the character of Thor in particular, as he is my personal favorite, but all the characters were well handled and well written. The story was excellent overall. Marvel, give us more of THIS!!!!
Rating: Summary: The best marvel novel there was Review: This book was action packed. This the best team up since the Time Arrow Trilogy, with the X-Men and Spider Man. A must have for all Marvel readers.
Rating: Summary: Veterans meet the new kids on the block Review: This is the first time I've been exposed to the Thunderbolts but the Avengers and Hawkeye I've enjoyed in previous books and comics. I enjoyed the teaming up of the villians and the heroes, then the double cross between the villians you knew had to happen. I enjoyed the book it was fast paced and introduced the characters well to us who aren't familiar with them.
Rating: Summary: Best comic book team in a book? Review: Yes this book has it all, Action great writing super heroes like captain america thunderbolts and others. If you like the comics of either of these two teams then you have to get this book no Q's about it as this is just like a well wrote comic book but i think it will even get non comic fans to read it. To finish i just have to say that this is a must for any fan of the avengers!
