Rating: Summary: The best Star Trek book I have ever read! Review: Im not that good with words so all I have to say is that this is one of the best books i have read. "The Romulan Prize" is a must read for Trekkies.
Rating: Summary: I can't even describe how GREAT this book was! Review: Mr. Hawke, you've done it again! This book was totally fanastic! It kept me guessing till the very end!I kept wondering,"what's going on here?Who's leading the crew of the Enterprise-D on this not-so-merry chase? Is it the the builders or the lost humans?"One of the best things about this book is where Riker keeps kicking that Romulan's butt. The story is encredibly well written and the most interesting character was the cocky know-it-all-about-humans Romulan commander. The only thing that would've made this book better was if it had been set during the Original Series timeline(I like Kirk and Spock better)If any "trek' book deserves five stars, this one does. undoubtibly the best of the NextGen books.
Rating: Summary: An excellent trek book! Review: Overall, one of the absolute best trek books I've read. It has a mixture of awesome action and suspense and mystery. The characters are well written and stick closely to the show, and the premise keeps you guessing until the end. A definite must read for trekkers, and for those who haven't read trek books, read this one first!
Rating: Summary: A hardcore Trekkie thriller/adventure!!! Review: The book : The Romulan Prize by Simon Hawke is a must for die hard Trekkie fans.
This book is really great and shows the distrust between The Romulans and the Federation at that time period.
The book starts off when the Enterprise is doing a routine mission and finds a prototype Romulan Warship drifting near the Neutral Zone.
So the crew of the Enterprise check out the situation and finds that it is a trap by the Romulans.
The Romulans want to find out information on a forbidden planet called Hermeticus 2. This planet is one of secrecy that even Picard doesn't have clearance to access information on it. The Romulans take control of the Enterprise and Picard and his crew must do everything to get her back.
I lent this book to a friend who never read a Star Trek book before and he could not put it down! Page after page is non stop
suspense. I give this book as a salute, five photon torpedos!!!
A CLASSIC!
Rating: Summary: A solid action story and a mental chess game Review: The premise for this book is very interesting: the Romulans capture the Enterprise and take it to explore what they believe is a secret Federation outpost in the Neutral Zone. Picard and his crew must outwit their captors and deal with a first contact in the Neutral Zone. The overall writing quality is rather mixed. The descriptions are excellent. The fight between Riker and the Romulan first officer was very clear, very vivid, and had lots of interesting commentary on various martial arts styles. The non-main characters tend to be rather generic but vividly described. The two balance each other out for a generally good result. The Romulan captain, on the other hand, has more background and more distinctiveness. He and Picard make a good pair of protagonists. Finally, the book also gives us a good look at how the Romulan military and aristocracy behave and interact with each other. Overall this is a solid action story, with a lot of interesting subplots and details. I enjoy reading it.
Rating: Summary: The Romulan Prize Review: The Romulan Prize by Simon Hawke is a Romulan story filled with treachery, intrigue, deceit, deception, and guile... all of the things that define a good Romulan. This book has character development and bring the Romulan psyche out so we can look at it and see how they think.Captain Picard and crew are on a patrole of the Neutral Zone when they run across a new more advanced Romulan Warbird seemingly drifting in space. Picard, how many times has your mother told you... never trust a Romulan? Well, this is a whole ship of them... and yes, they overpower the Enterprise... WITHOUT A PHASER SHOT... hmmm Cunning, those Romulans, now the crew scrambles to retake the Enterprise. Something that I found to add some humor was Riker. Ol' Riker is portrayed with a Neaderthal psyche and is wanting to kick some Romulan butt. But, time is running out and the Romulans want to know about the secret shrouding Hermeticus 2. Picard does NOT have access to this information and the Romulan hijack the Enterprise and go to Hermeticus 2, a planet within a planet, that has a deadly secret. The book keeps your interest as you want to find out why these Romulans are so aggressive and deceitful. Engrossed with the prose the storyline flows from one misadventure to the next as the Enterprise and her crew try desperatly to defeat the Romulans and restore peace, but with a Romulan you always have to check your back.

Rating: Summary: Good Romulan book Review: The Romulan Prize is a good, well written book. The storyline is interesting, though the aliens at the end seemed like they were just thrown in. The beginning of the book was suspenseful and very startling. I liked the way the Enterprise crew really had to think to outwit the Romulans, and how Picard had to try to regain control of an out-of-hand situation. A very good novel, with nice action and character development.
