Summary: A space opera trilogy which does not underestimate readers
Review: A truly gripping story which contains fully realized characters, not caricatures. As in real life, you get drama, heroism and romance without the melodrama. It is very refreshing and very rare to find a truly entertaining, intricate and well-written story which main drawback as far as I can see are the covers of the books themselves (the original US edition, which is the one I got).

They are clearly the reason why these books are nearly unknown in the science fiction field. I feel certain the author must have been furious. It makes it even more astonishing that I actually bought all three books as they came out years ago (and the suspense in between was pretty bad let me tell you), and is why I can recommend them highly, with the proviso that you really want to read them in order.

This is exactly the reason why we waste our time reading slush: in order to find books like these, if we are persistent enough! And the British edition has very decent covers (and could be easier to find as well, being more recent)

Summary: Second only to the Dune series.
Review: After reading these books over 15 years ago, I was lucky enough to find 2 of the three recently in a local used book store. I am avidly looking for the last one. It was a truly enjoyable experience to rediscover that they were as good as the first time I read them.

Summary: Awesome triology
Review: An excellent, well written, well developed story. It is more than just good sci-fi. Unfortunately, it didn't stay around too long. Worth looking for (I buy every copy I find). I wish Ms. Wren had written a sequel.

Summary: An all time favourite
Review: Compelling sci-fi saga. Great story telling with well thought out storylines with rich detail, but tidy and concise style. An excellent re-read - and frankly there aren't many of those.

Summary: This book is awsome.
Review: I am a young sci-fi fan who found this book in my basement twoyears ago. I can honestly say that I love this series. Of all the sci-fiauthers I have come across, I can say with complete honesty that M.K. Wren is one of the best. While I have the first two books, I have searched across the United States(literally) and have yet to find the third book. I highly encourage all science fiction fans to read this triology if you have not done so already.

Summary: US cover is different to Australian one
Review: I first got these books on the recommendation of my Librarian in Year 8 (some 17 years ago) and now they are a critical read for me every 2-3 years. They have the depth and scope of Frank Herberts Dune (1st, 2nd & 4th - 3rd's rubbish) and flashes of brilliance ala Asimov's I-Robot series, without the sparseness.

An engaging read, they are emotive, intelligent and definitely succeed in painting a picture of a world that is entirely plausible and feasible in our near future. What is also impressive is that the descriptions of technology and the word amalgams used to personify and name particular objects and concepts aren't used to excess and don't overtake the good old fashioned story telling aspect.

The covers of the US books are very different to the Australian covers - they do look lame - and definitely contributed to the poor following that resulted. The Australian books have black borders top and bottom and have classic Sci-Fi mixed with Fantasy Genre imagery that sparks the imagination and invites speculation and hence appeal. Everyone I know who has read them has ordered the books off Amazon and guard their versions with absolute commitment. Highly Recommended.

Highly recommended reading and I advise, do not loan them out once you get them. I once had someone offer me $200 for the trio, because mine are in mint condition. I have two sets - the loan out copy to trusted friends who keep reborrowing them and the personal copy.

Summary: One of the best trilogies out there
Review: I had forgotten how well written this series was until I came across an old copy of volume one. This is one of the most complex, well written, future history series that I have ever read. Right up there with Tolkein and Azimov...

The reason I'm here on Amazon today is that I could only find my old copies of volume one and three... I just ordered a used copy of volume two.

Summary: Space socio-political drama at its best
Review: I have never been fond of the sweeping space socio-political story, but this series avoided all of the cliches and pitfalls that usually frustrate me. Richard Lamb is a character who moves the reader to pity and admiration, while his brother Alexand DeKoven-Woolf is a character whom you wish you could meet. The story progresses rapidly, despite the fact that it is a trilogy, developing both the individual characters and the galactic political morass
