Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!! Review: This book was reccomended to me at a bookfair two years ago. I've read it so many times since it has broken in half and the cover has fallen off!! I would reccomend it to anyone. It is very detailed, even if it sorta starts slow. When you read it you feel like you know the charicters and at the end of the second book I cried! A definate must read even if you don't like King Arthur.
Rating: Summary: The Child Queen is a spectacular and impressive work of art! Review: The Child Queen has a magnetic quality about it that draws the reader right through to the last page. It's tragic and inspiring tale is woven well, and brings the reader into the realm of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere, spinning a web of intrigue and mystery about it. A dreamlike quality is always evident in the magnificent tale of Ancient Britain.
Rating: Summary: Sigh...... Review: Ohhhh, how I love this book.... I've devoured it soooo many times..... :) Please, please buy it if you like the Mary Stewart trilogy and/or appreciate good storytelling! After all, what will be, will be!
Rating: Summary: The best book I've read in a long time! Review: A friend got me reading The Crystal Cave(which is fab!) and somebody else said I had to read The Child Queen. I've had it for 2 days and I'm 3 quarters through it! I can't put the book down! I can't wait to see what happens next!
Rating: Summary: The Child Queen is a compelling story of Arthur's Queen. Review: This is a compassionate retelling of Guinevere's story. Often reviled for her betrayal of Arthur, here her own words are the most compelling argument ever for her innocence. The story is romantic, thrilling and compelling-everything you need for a great summer read
Rating: Summary: Definately an important discovery, one of the very best! Review: The Child Queen is probably one of my favorite books. I was never very interested in the Arthurian/ Guinevere legand, but when my friend recommended it, I read it. I absolutely loved it, I read it twice and then I bought it.
It is such a great book, the characters are very real and vivid. Mrs McKenzie has a great gift of making you see the characters and the surroundings in your minds eye, it touched me like no other book has. The High Queen is also good, but too sad. I look forward to more books by Mrs McKenzie. I highly recommend The Child Queen
Rating: Summary: Guinevere and King Author, need I say more? Review: One of the best books I've read in a long time. McKenzie's combination of good context as well as plot kept my attention for the entire time I read it. After reading, I understood what the queen went through, her most diffucult peril being that her love stolen by her child-hood friend. The mix of a love story, adventure, and almost fantasy touched my weak spot for good books. I read it again, and again, and again..
Rating: Summary: A Romance of All Ages Review: Really, Mists of Avalon brought about me the feeling that "You know, what? I am going to be a priestess. I want power, love, devotion...yata, yata, yata." But, the Child Queen showed a beautiful, growing relationship between Arthur and Gwenhyfar. At times, I wished Lancelot had loved someone else, so as to keep the Queen and King in complete friendship and love. Nevertheless, I read this book in a few hours total. I have entered a Fantasy stage of my life...I only hope I can bring myself to realize that I am no Dark Age Queen and must live my own life as I go to college--and not be enamored so by these books!!!! Read it..I am looking forward to picking up its sequel, The High Queen. God bless you, Nancy. I praise how you raise a family and I noticed you attended Tufts University--where I will be enrolled this fall!!!

Rating: Summary: Don't be fooled Review: I had to read this book years ago for an English class. I begged and begged the teacher to change his mind because this book was listed as a romance novel. I am extremely thankful he said no. The Child Queen, and its sequel, The High Queen, tells Arthur's story through Guinivere. This book, though relatively short, managed to engulf me with its settings, characters, and stories. Listing it under romance is a serious injustice to this book. After reading both novels, i quickly got my hands on as many Arthurian novels as possible. There is no way a terrible book can cause a lifelong love.
