Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: This is one of my favorite books!I have read it three times in the last year and 1/2!It is definately on my top 5 list.I also just finished its sequel,The High Qoeen,it was great too!! I highly recommend this book to everybody!!
Rating: Summary: The Child Queen is a rich, detailed story of true love. Review: From the first, Guinevere is a person in 3-D. She runs off with her her playmate and makes a lot of trouble for him - not intentionally, but it serves to show that one in her position has restrictions. This she abhors, but must submit to reality. When pensioned off to her aunt and cousin, she learns to put her pride second in some very painful lessons. She cannot run about as she pleases, but must learn how to dow women's work, no matter who she marries. Medieval noble women where kept close in their households so as to retain their marriage value (virginity). As the bride-to-be of the most powerful king in the country, she has an incredible amount of pressure upon her and reacts as any sensitive, feelings-oriented female would who is in truth unprepared for marriage. As a newlywed she enjoys being with her husband; as one with her heart given to Lancelot, she is as decorus as one can be with a heart split in twain. People criticize her seemingly excessive weeping, and say that she cannot be strong, yet a woman who is expected to bear an heir to the greatest kingdom ever known, her inner pain must be incredible, to know that she is barren. This Guinevere is one heck of a character, and her Arthur is a man any woman would fight to possess and please. This is an excellent piece of reading that I would recommend to anyone with a romantic heart who believes in true love.
Rating: Summary: Dull and Dry Review: What a sappy story line. Guinevere was just as pitiful as ever, and Arthur was a dummy in this book. Mckenzie writes an easy and simple tale of the king/queen saga that can be found anywhere else. The book was huge, which made it worse to read. Get MISTS OF THE AVALONS.
Rating: Summary: These works of art show off Mrs. McKenzie at her best! Review: The books The Child Queen and The High Queen are both incredible works of art. Even if you think that you know the tale of Arthur, Guinevere, and the Round Table, you will be surprised at what the books have in store for you! Taking you back into the past, they are filled with emotion and depth. Also, they don't just tell you the story, but get down into the sould and mind of each and every character. I strongly incourage people to read them!
Rating: Summary: A fantastic and thrilling love story I will never forget! Review: This was the best book I have ever read and I can't wait to get the sequel! I highly advise reading it. Gwen is terrific and I'm sooo glad Nancy McKensie didn't ruin it by having Lancelot and Gwen run off together. It is heart felt and Gwen and Arthur are so cute together!
Rating: Summary: Long Live Arthur and Guinevere! Review: This is a must-have for those who enjoy the legends of Arthur and Guinevere. This book contains a female perspective and gives insight to the relationship between Guinevere's cousin and later rival, Elaine. This book will shed light on how Guinevere became one of the most adored and cherished as well as hated queens. McKenzie explores the ever-so-complex relationship between Lancelot and Guinevere notwithstanding the relationship between her and Arthur. This book presents a magical legend that will no doubt last forever.
Rating: Summary: A okay book, not the best though Review: A very stereotypical if not okay book. If you want to read this amateur writer's writing, don't even bother reading the sequel.
Rating: Summary: A Grand Introduction to Queen Guinevere and King Arthur Review: This is a romantic version of the legendary couple Guinevere and Arthur. McKenzie presents the topic in a tender, adventurous and entertaining way. I had a tough time putting this book down! McKenzie can be at times a bit biased when touching the ever so evasive relationshp between Lancelot and Guinevere. I recommend this book to anyone who wants an overall story of the mythical couple.
Rating: Summary: This is one of my favorite Arthurian books Review: This book was my first glimpse of Arthurian England and the Arthur legends, and it got me hooked. The story is told from the point of view of Guinevere, and portrays her as a flesh and blood person, with flaws and strengths, not as the heartless betrayer that much of Arthurian literature paints her as. I highly recommend this book, as well as the sequel, The High Queen.
Rating: Summary: Kaput! Review: Another cheaply made, quickly edited, and poorly designed book. This book was much too rushed out into publication, more time should have been put into it...there was a slight potential for a great read...but it went Kaput!
