Rating: Summary: The Child Queen is wonderful! Review: The Child Queen is the first book i have ever read about guinevere and king arthur. I must say that this book is one of the best written books i have read in a long time. The beggining was slow but after that i couldn't put it down! I can't wait to read The High Queen.
Rating: Summary: Passionate and heartfelt! Review: I loved this book! I have read many versions of the tale, but this was by far one of the best. Beautifully written! The characters come alive. Guinevere's perspective on the story is refreshing and the twist added to Elaine's character makes this tale so believable. Definitely worth a read. I can't wait to pick up the sequal.
Rating: Summary: The Best Aurthurian Book I've Ever Read! Review: An amazing book! The tale of Guenivere written from her point of view is very real and heartfelt. I love how 3-D she seems (a real person, not some snobby wanna be Queen). All the characters are very real, the book holds a personal value, the characters come alive. Finally a book that makes sense of Guenivere and Lancelot's love for one another, it's not evil -- but good.
Rating: Summary: Synopsis Review: "The Child Queen" was one of the most original, dramatic Arthurian books I have ever read. The characters and plot were great. McKenzie shows us Guinevere isn't just Arthur's traitorous queen; she's human and makes mistakes, as we all do. Be sure to read the continuation, "The High Queen."
Rating: Summary: Sweet and simple. Review: I enjoyed reading this book, as I enjoy most stories based on the Arthurian legends. I didn't find it much like The Mists of Avalon at all, and I enjoyed the fresh twist given to Elaine, who has usually come off as rather dull in most other versions I've read. I don't quite understand why people seem so worried about it being a copy of Mists... after all, they all originated from the same legend anyhow! I recommend this to anyone who loves Camelot.
Rating: Summary: This book is a riveting tale spun with passion and know-how. Review: The Child Queen is an awesome and passionate tale about Guinever and Arthur. The way the story is shown from the female perspective is very innovative and smart. This story also brings the Lancelot factor into a new light, not just putting it on the backburner. It talks about Arthur's victories and it doesn't get too wrapped up into the romance to focus on other events, like the Elaine situation, that make the story a definite winner. Nancy McKenzie shuold be proud of this brilliant and exciting novel. I am a teenager and don't find most books interesting, but this novel has given me hope for books!
Rating: Summary: Not perfect, but definitely worth a read! Review: I read both the Child Queen (and its sequel, the High Queen) a few years ago, and I loved them both. Although it has its flaws, I think that anyone who likes a good love story with clearly defined 'good guys' and 'bad guys' (who are NOT stereotypical or completely flat) will enjoy this novel for its well-conceived story. I've read the more objective versions of Arthurian legends, and this is an interesting take on how things might really have transpired. If you start it with an open mind, you'll be entertained.
Rating: Summary: So entrancing that 60 minutes on treadmill went by too fast Review: Wonderful tale of Guinevere. Couldn't put the book down, but needed it for "treadmilling". Time went by too fast and I wanted more!!!
Rating: Summary: Boring! Review: I disagree with most of the other reviews, this book was a cheap rip off of Mist of the Avalons. It was so boring.
