Rating: Summary: headlines or fiction Review: A work of fiction that reads like todays headlines. An extremely frightening look at what these latest terrorist attacks will do to expedite the loss of our personal freedoms for the sake of our security. As I listen to the the talking heads on the tube and hear about all of the new agencies being created; the polls on what personal liberties we are willing to sacrifice; I can go to the page in this work of fiction and see the actual prediction written years before its time. Read this book and give it to a loved one.
Rating: Summary: Disturbingly realistic Review: After having read most of what is available on this topic, I would rate this book at 5+ stars. I think Furlang will be able to get the "word" out to the secular reading public who I fear are ill prepared for the coming results of today's technological "progress". I enjoyed it every bit as much as Larry Burkett's 2 books "The Illuminati" and "The Thor Consipiracy". Soon, but not soon enough, the light will shine through the fibers and the spider web that has been secretly spun will be all too visible.
Rating: Summary: Anonymity is required Review: Due to the classified nature of Mr. Furland's resume', Intech Media, the publisher of this reality based work of "open source material," which by the way is classified as "fiction," we can not, due to the non-disclosure agreement which we were required to execute,{with predjudice,} be more forthcoming with the myriad of details and questions which we have been barraged with, as regards Mr. Furland's history. I wish I could tell you more than that his degrees are in History and related centralized government/solution oriented areas. He is an expert in his field, and a truly couragous individual. For more on his book, read the back cover. Forever yours in truth and freedom.
Rating: Summary: Furland is a master of his craft !! Review: Every generation or so, a storyteller comes along who combines a rich imagination with a discipline of style that works on every level. In his first work of fiction, (of which this reviewer hopes there are many, many more) author Jerry Furland proves himself to be one of that rare breed. "Transfer" is at once entertaining, frightening, and thought provoking. And, it leaves the reader hungry for more. I suspect there will soon be legions of "Furland Junkies" who await the next volume with the same impatience as Clancy or Grisham fans. Jerry Furland has seen the future with "Transfer" and his USA of 2008 in which freedom is traded for security will frighten even the most cynical of readers. Today there are two kinds of readers, those who have read "Transfer" and those who are going to. Don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: The fictional content, here, is soley the characters. Review: Here is a book that dives head first into subjects that most people prefer not to even think about. Revelation can often be disturbing. Generally, people shy away from newness and change. It is always, initially, a profound shock, to correct ones views and perceptions. There are those who avoid it at all costs, after their firsst experience. There are those who love it. Seek it out. Read this book.
Rating: Summary: It's all about Bush Review: I checked. This book was written in 1998. How did the author know that the former Governor of Texas would be innaugerated in January 2001, and then re-elected in 2004? Also, all the legislation hastily passed by Congress to secure us from terrorist activity? A national ID card starting with the current drivers license state scandals. On and on it goes. Economic terrorism, cyber terrorism, it's all part of the same conservative agenda to take absolute control of United States citizens, followed by their global ambitions. Farenheit 911 was a great book, but this book written six years earlier should have been the wake up call to all patriotic liberals. How did so many people miss this? This book foretells the bleak future the conservative agenda has in store for all of us. Read this book and for Gods sake, pay attention to the current headline news coming out of Washington. This is truly a frightening and credible conspiracy disguised as fiction, and proven true by six years of history.
Rating: Summary: Nice appetizer but where's the entree? Review: I enjoyed the story line. Furland is a good writer. The only problem is the story ends 200 pages into a 600 page novel. Granted he said it was the first of a three volume set, with the other two yet to be written, but all other trilogies I have read at least wrap up the loose ends before going to the next book.
Rating: Summary: History and technolgy repeated Review: I have seen this before. History has taught us how the God fearing citizens will remain silent as they step over the bodies of the opposition. The cashless society does appear as a utopia. The theory is sound, the technology is available, the legislation is in place,(homeland security), the need to protect our cyber security in a global economy has never been so important to our survival. The cashless society provides for the elimination of nearly all crime, from drug trafficking, welfare fraud, corporate and government corruption, down to the lowest levels of crime for spendable profit; not to mention the huge government budget savings. As flawless as this system appears to be, I fear for the trade off of our personal libertys for the sake of our security. I see the invisable bar code as clearly as I saw the tatooed number on my Grandfather's wrist. I give this book five stars simply because I believe all patriotic citizens should read this book and beware. Read this book and read the politcal legislation being passed, or in committe now. The threat of terrorism is bringing the brutal efficiency of this futuristic reality coming to pass. The accuracy of this author is frightening beyond my simple comprehension. This work was originally published in 1998. Who do you know predicted that the former Governor from Texas would be innaugerated in January of 2001. Who is this omniscient author from Southern New England? Purchase and read this book. Demand that all of your family members and loved ones do the same.

Rating: Summary: It makes perfect sense to me Review: I hope the author's off by about fifty years if any of the things he says will happen actually do. I'll more than likely be dead by then so it won't really matter. I had to tank at least one star for leaving me in a lurch at the end. But I'll definitely spring for the sequel. I think this would make a helluva movie provided parts two and three keep up the pace.
