Summary: An entertaining read!
Review: BANG! A bit far fetched, but an excellent book. This was not your typical Shadowrun novel, but it was so vibrant and alive that you could not help but like it. I feel Pollatta is a great addition to the Shadowrun world. The question seems to be: Where from here? Can his next book be bigger? Should it even try?

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Solid and Refreshingly Gritty
Review: For entry level talent in the Shadowrun Universe, Pollata's freshman attempt is very much an enjoyable, intelligent book. There are a few lingering plot holes, and certain things that are unnescessary and don't make sense (the Ruby the Razor backstory, the Spanish Ork encrypted writing) but overall the characters were memorable, the action was intense and most of the plot was fun. I look forward to the next one, where all the loose ends get tied up.

Review: For me, Shadowboxer was the best book I have read. I thought that Pollotta did a marvoulus job of portraying the Shadowrun univers, and of describing things. I can't wait for him to write another Shadowrun novel.

Summary: Worst book of the Shadowrun line!
Review: I found Shadowboxer to be a horrible book--badly structured, poorly written, and all-around unsatisfying. Some of the charactersare intriguing, but the ending was a massive letdown, the whole tone of the book was far more depressing than I like to see even in a novel of this genre, and the level of violence was extreme. I have read almost every other book in the Shadowrun line, and I have liked some and disliked others, but never have I felt like throwing the book across the room upon finishing it--until Shadowboxer. Reader beware!

Summary: now that's what I call a real shadowrun book!
Review: I read Shadowboxer and I think it's a great book. Apart from the Secrets of Power trilogy, Striper Assassin and Shadowplay, this one's definitely the one with the best characters in it: I don't care too much about Delphia, but Silver and Moonfeather are definitely worth buying it. I particularly liked the pieces about cat shamanism.

However, what puzzles me is that there's no real end: Sure, in the end the team gets a new job, but Silver hasn't made any attemt yet to find Blackjack's killers, and Moonfeather's supposed to be dead though I think she actually isn't ... What I mean is that it doesn't sound like an end, more like the beginning of a new story ... Am I right? Is there any? If not, it would be a great idea to write one ... (smile)

Summary: A surprisingly good book.
Review: Indeed, this book may shock you. Nicholas Pollota used a very unusual format for telling the story. I'm sure you've read books in which every other chapter is told from a different character's perspective, but Pollota takes it one step further. About three times in the book, who you think is the main character dies. It makes for some interesting reading and is very insiteful into the views of each character. One thing puzzled me though. The end was not what I expected. However, I'm sure any fan of Shadowrun would enjoy this book.

Review: It was a very good book but the Fact that Two Bears gets killed in the beginning makes it only a 9 instead of a 10

Summary: Now that's what I call a Shadowrun book ...
Review: Read this one! Together with the Secrets of Power trilogy, Striper Assassin and Shadowplay, Shadowboxer is definitely one of the Shadowrun books with the best characters in it. Though it takes place in a couple of unusual locations, it creates a lot of "Shadowrun atmosphere". The only thing that bothers me is that it doesn't have a real ending; at the last page, there are still a lot of loose ends. The whole book doesn't really feel like a novel on its own, more like the first part of a series. I think it would be cool if Nick Polotta wrote another episode to follow "Shadowboxer" - I for one would certainly look forward to reading it!
