Rating: Summary: This book is going to be GOLDEN Review: After reading the golden one. I thouhgt "WOW!!! what an amazing book". the story is well written showing two totally contrasting worlds, different upbringings (Ampris' and Elrabin's). I especially liked the way Deborah Chester showed Ampris totally oblivious to the world around her. I also enjoyed her realism in her novels (i.e. every bright idea does not work out). Despite the fact that Deborah Chester does tend to use the same word(s) to describe things over and over agian, I still loved the book and the ending leaves one begging for more and is such a tease.
Rating: Summary: Star Wars like (what it may have been like pre-Rebellion Review: Another galaxy, another time. Several alien races, all fuzzy, enslaved by evil reptiles. It sounds like a typical plot, but it really is unique. There is something about this book that puts it apart from others. For one thing, the author, Deborah Chester, did not include humans. Thus, the reader enters the storyline with unbiased attitude (sorry for the pleonasm). However typical this sounds, you will be actually sucked into its storyline and the lifes and trials of different non-Viis and non-Ampris species characters, feel their triumphs and indignitations, and will put the book down only when you finish, begging for more, which will come in the sequel.
Rating: Summary: I have seen few books that come close to Golden One. Review: Golden One takes you to another world. If you think it is just like all the others that have other worlds in them, think again. The Viis are the rulers. They want a good life and an empire that will outlast all others but they are short sighted and can forget crucial details. Israi is the sri-Kaa.She is second only to the Kaa, ruler of the Viis. Ampris was taken in by Israi when he was at a very young age. Ampris is an Aaroun. Considered a slave race. So the tale begins of how Ampris lead The Great Emancipation and conquered the Viis. This book tells how he grew up and his life before the revolt. In my opinion this book is one of the greatest ones Deborah Chester has ever written.
Rating: Summary: wonderful sci-fi novel Review: I'm not the usual sci-fi lover, but I was attracted to everything both in and out of the book. the plot is excellent, the characters seem almost alive in our minds and I have only one question, already asked by many other readers: when will the 2nd book be released????????
Rating: Summary: Best Sci-fi Book I have read since Dragonlance Chronicles Review: Deborah Chester gives all the characters in the book thier own story and emotions that make you believe that you are right there living thier lives with them. I am looking forward to the rest of the seriers.
Rating: Summary: Very well written and extermely engaging! Review: The Alien Chronicles trilogy will hook you in from the very first page of book one and won't let you go until the story is completed. The characters are very realistic. The story flows well and holds your interest throughout the book. A great choice for those into Sci-fi/Fantasy!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING!!!! Review: I wasn't going to read this book at first but when i picked it up i couldn't up it down. It was amazing. You get pulled right into that universe by the 5th page. So engrossing...absolutely beautiful. But where is the next one?????!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Love It, Couldn't put it down Review: The story of Ampris, is a great story of friendship, loyties, betrays, and secrets hidden behind close doors. The Golden One is a Beautiful story and the ending left me impationtly wanting the second book to come out.
Rating: Summary: Incredible! Where's the sequel??! Review: It takes an incredible story to totally engross oneself in it after about two pages. But this is one of those books. I didn't think it was slow at all-namely you have to read through the slow dawning of Ampris as she realizes that she isn't just a stupid Aaaroun, that her kind had their own planet and own culture. Simple human nature, greed, jealousy, slavery, is what made the book unique and realistic, which is pretty good for a science fiction novel! Now all we have to do is wait forever for the sequel... C'mon, Deborah, keep it coming!
Rating: Summary: Slow starter.. Great finisher.. Review: I'll tell you what.. I love the book now that I have finished it and am ready to read the second one. But most of the book was very very slow and really should have been a little quicker.. So what is the name of the next one?????
