Rating: Summary: Definantly an Awsome book. Review: This was so good! I read everybody elses reviews and except for some people, everybody thought it was awsome! So, I bought it at my local Bookstore, and I read it. It took me a while to understand it, and I had to get to abt. Chapter Five to get hooked, but once I was: IT WAS AWSOME! I reccomend it.
Rating: Summary: you can't get any better than this! Review: read, and be amazed. Deborah Chester has created a whole new world, more of a universe really. the aliens she creates, like the aarouns, kelths, myals and the viis are richly portrayed, down to the last hair. this book tells a typical story about freedom and hope, but from the unique veiwpoint of a young aaroun, Ampris. Deborah Chester dvelops her other characters very well also, so it isn't just a story about Ampris, but every one in the cast. Read and enjoy. i sure did!
Rating: Summary: I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! Review: The character and story description really kept me on the edge. I felt as if I was Ampris, enduring her life challenges. I couldn't put this book down! Nor will you!
Rating: Summary: insipid trash Review: Did I read the same book as everyone else here?I bought the book while waiting for a flight, and as bored as I was I could not finish this outright rip off of other novels. Don't fall for the Lucas name as I did. Perhaps the other reviewers are either very very young or have never read a worthwhile sci fi / fantasy book. Instead allow me to suggest Frank Herbert - Dune, Isaac Asimov - Foundation, Robert Jordan - Wheel of Time series 1 to 6 only, or my newest favorite George R.R. Martin
Rating: Summary: Loved this book! Review: I fell in love with the characters, and I'm so glad the story is not over. Literally swept me away.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT EXCELLENT BOOK!!!!!!! Review: This book was very well written. I was just sitting there after reading a little and thinking, "Why do I like this book so much?" It was just awesome story and somewhat tragic. It left me wanting more.
Rating: Summary: Predictable, boring, and it aint SF. Review: This book really sucked. 1. It is not science fiction, and hardly even fantasy. 2. The story is not compelling even a little. 3. The characters are not interesting, and I felt no compassion for them. I can't believe that they think that they can squeak another 8 books out of this no-brainer. The entire tri-triology is completely predictable from the opening paragraphs of the book. The story is nothing but a cheap rehash of the same story told much better many times. Ever heard of Ben-Hur. Call the slave races moors and turks instead of dogs and cats and it's the same thing only of much lesser quality. In the future I will be careful of the following, and I recommend to all to do the same: 1. Don't buy a book that tells you it's the first of nine. They've already decided that there is some merit in a story that no one has read yet. 2. Don't buy anything that is labelled a "collaboration". 3. A book by a movie studio?
Rating: Summary: science fiction book ...keeps you on the edge of your seat Review: Ok you guys this is a great book... i just read and read and really didnt stop till i was done (due to a boring christmas vacation too)but... as i was saying i read it then i went out to get the second one... and i read that the next day... it is a wonderful storie about ampris of an alien race far away ... it is great! it really shows how prejuduce and slavery and un just things are universal and that the age of eqaulity will come if a strong leader prevails... like i said a really good book so if i were you ... i'd read it!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful and Exciting Review: The Golden One by Deborah Chester was an excellent book filled with unexpected subtleties and clever contrasts. The book immediately grasps the reader and does not let go. I found myself at the bookstore buying The Crimson Claw and wondering when the third book in the Trilogy will be available.
Rating: Summary: If it was made into a movie it would be as good as Star Wars Review: Best book I ever read. I can't wait to read the next one. I didn't want to put it down. There was always something new around every turn of the page. If you read this Deborah, PLEASE make this into a movie.
