Rating: Summary: Best book I ever read!!! Review: Friends and Lovers have to be the best book I have ever read. I just couldn't put the book down. I loved the romance between Tyrel and Shelby and the strength of Debra. This book made me laugh and made me cry. I read it in 3 days. I have recommended this book to friends and family. If this book becomes a movie (I definitely hope so) I will be the first one in line to see it. I went right out and got SISTER, SISTER and finished it 2 days later. I can't wait for his next novel "Mike in my coffee" to hit the bookshelves.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous; Insightful to the human spirit and quest for love Review: One book....so many emotions. You'll laugh with them, cry with them, by the end, you'll see yourself in all of them. Creative and inspiring; shows you the true meaning of "Carpe Diem!"(Seize the day.) Touching story of both the male and female quest for love. Bravo, Mr. Dickey!!!
Rating: Summary: NO LUMPS, NO BUMPS, JUST ONE SMOOTH RIDE... Review: As an author I have been reading and writing for a long time. With so many black novels out there, it was a real joy to pick up a novel that delivered such wit and incite. Mr. Dickey's phrasing and spin on words are both original and heart felt. He captures the moment with authenticity and style. "Friends and Lovers" was a real joy to read and I look forward to many more stories by this author who is shiny brighter than the rest.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!!!! Review: "Friends and Lovers" definitely shows the growth of Dickey as a writer. It is mature, insightful, passionate- just awesome. My sister and I have read this novel and enjoyed many lengthy conversations; especially about Shelby, Richard, and Tyrel's thang. "What is up" with that? The book was an emotional rollercoaster, especially what happened to Leonard. But who says that life isn't always flowers and candy. Even though Shelby got on my nerves, I loved her anyway. It is apparent that Dickey took efforts to make this story real. I thank him for allowing me to know Debra, Leonard, Shelby, and Tyrel while taking the chance to visit with Chiquita once again. I laughed and cried as I learned lessons I'll never forget. "Milk in My Coffee" is definitely on my list for September.
Rating: Summary: BREATHTAKING!!!!! Review: If you like love stories that relate to the 90s, you'll never be able to put down "Friends and Lovers." The book keeps you wanting more and more. The characters are easy to relate to and the author draws you into their world!!

It has been floating around the office like mad. And everyone has finished the book in about two days. It's one of those books that once you pick it up your hooked.

Rating: Summary: The book was absolutely invigorating, inspiring, emotional, Review: I purchased this book on a Tuesday and was finished reading the book on Sunday of that same week. A friend introduced me to the book and now I am in the process of purchasing Sister, Sister. Mr. Dickey really hit home on this one. The characters Debra and Leonard were my absolute favorite. Although Leonard had a tragedy, I related so well to the strength of Debra. Tyrel and Shebly reminded me of myself in younger days. There love did shine through finally and rightly so. I loved this book and look forward to completing Sister, Sister to provide my comments. Mr. Dickey, thank you for getting me back on the reading trail.
Rating: Summary: I am addicted to this author Review: I don't know how he is able to write so well through the eyes of women, but Eric did it in sister sister and he has done it again with friends and lovers. I can't wait to see what's in store for us in "Milk In My Coffee". Eric you are a FANTASTIC writer.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely engaging, beautiful; yet REAL! Review: From the opening Paragraph Of Dickey's book the reader is captivated by the language and character of the book. Too often writers become bias with certain chracters leaving other characters one dimensional; well not Dickey in his work Friends and Lovers. He finds the unique inner life of each character not adding nor taking away anything from their realistic individualism! The book is awesome! I gurantee anyone who reads this book will come to terms with something within and yearn for more of Jerome's writing. The read is very swift and one will not want to turn the book loose, and even when you let the text go the characters will still vibrate in your pysche! I LOVED IT! IT is a must read. Jerome has really out done himself this time! The passion, Black Love, I tell, you it is not soppy and corny, It's BEAUTIFUL!
