Summary: A REAL PAGE-TURNER
Review: FRIENDS AND LOVERS, ERIC DICKEY'S SECOND NOVEL, IS ONE OF HIS BEST WORKS, YET. I HAVE ALSO READ HIS FIRST NOVEL, SISTER,SISTER. THE READER CAN RELATE TO ALL OF DICKEY'S CHARACTERS. HIS NOVELS GIVE THE READER A MOTIVATION TO ASPIRE TO BECOME LIKE THE CHARACTERS OF HIS BOOK. DICKEY SHOWED HOW TRAGEDY CAN NOT ONLY BRING LOSS, BUT HAPPINESS AS WELL. I RECOMMEND THIS NOVEL TO BE READ BY MALES AND FEMALES ALIKE.

Summary: Excellent... Unfortunately it had to End
Review: This book touched me. I was completely in awe at the positivness of Leonard and Tyrel. They were such caring and respectful men, that's what won me over. They loved the ladies now, but they were nice, decent guys AND both wanted a one on one relationship. I think we (females) tend to think that's not the case sometimes. About the couples: Leonard and Debra knew this is what they wanted and weren't afraid to finalize, they were a little more mature. Tyrel and Shelby, a lot more physical knew the same thing, but were both petrified of anything binding they had always had relationships with escape clauses. Which is what led Shelby to panic, and react like she did, but in her defense that's all she knew how to do. I loved the relationship between the two sets of best friends. After reading this book I wondered what the characters are doing now. I had to tell myself these were not people, just characters, I'm still trying to convice myself of that. The male / female perspective, was a rare occurence, I think Mr. Dickey has hit on something BIG. It doesn't get better than this. KEEP THEM COMING.

Summary: Real-life, complex portrayals, especially for the brothers!
Review: I read Friends & Lovers after having read Sister, Sister. As an aspiring novelist myself, I was curious to see how it would differ from "S&S", after reading that Eric wrote "F&L" first. I suspect that Sister, Sister was written with a commercial focus in mind (something I can relate to), but man, Friends & Lovers was first-rate! One of my goals is to increase the diversity of black male portrayals in our novels, but "F&L" sets the standard! Tyrel's struggles and the life experiences that shaped him were carefully woven throughout, and Leonard was a brother on the move professionally but in touch with himself spiritually. The women were well-developed, too, but it's the male portrayals that make this novel unique. This is "Waiting to Exhale" with REAL black men.

Summary: Great Book!!!
Review: I loved this book, the story, the characters, the humor, and especially the way the author provoked such emotion out of me - the reader. Eric Jerome Dickey is a great writer! The one liners will have you throwing your head back laughing. The line "Damn shame when a married woman leaves you for her husband" still has me cracking up. Or, "You're not the one, the two, the three, four or the five." What a great line. I can't wait to read Milk in my Coffee. I imagine it's about Jungle Fever (Black man, White woman). Being an African American woman, I'm not tripping. Bottom line, it's about whatever makes you happy! I want to see how this tackful writer approaches the subject.

Review: This was a great book. One of those books that you wish would not end. I was so into this book that when I came home from my part-time job at 1:30 a.m., I picked this book up and read until 5:30 a.m. Very good is all that I can say! Stay blessed and keep writing!

Summary: A Oustanding 5* read that u cant put down until its done!!!
Review: I really enjoyed this book. Each character was given their due time and time to shine as well. Tyrel was a handsome find. His character was portrayed with such depth as was every one of the people involved. He & SHelby's relationship seemed rocky yet so solid at times. Leaonard he was a man of standard and he had been like Tyrel's brother in being such a good friend... Tyrel was dealing with a married woman who did him no justice.. Leonard let him know that and so the story goes.... they both wind up with some really special ladies and i dont want to hurt the plot any for those of you who havent read it but Eric has put such spin on this book that it will have you reeling from the beginning to the very end.. Eric Jerome Dickey has a real flair for writing and i hope that you all enjoy this book and many of the others. I have read them all.

Review: I was very in touch with the characters, I must say it was quite refreshing to read about men having those same uncertain feelings about love and if theyre with the right person, or just the fact that they really care about choosing a woman for a life-partner.

Summary: A POWERFUL, TRUE-TO-LIFE ROMANCE
Review: Friends and Lovers was an excellent novel. It kept me totally enthralled from start to finish. Eric's other two books Sister Sister and Milk In My Coffee were excellent as well. I have to give credit where credit is due and Eric Jerome Dickey deserves it all. I finished the book within a matter of hours and I was upset when I got finished because it meant that I was no longer involved in the lives of Tyrel, Shelby, Debra and Leonard. I strongly suggest that Eric and his agents discuss a possibly movie deal for Friends and Lovers because I would love to see it on the big screen, Nia Long and Shemar Moore would be perfect for Shelby and Tyrel!! Keep up the good work Eric and as long as you do I will remain a loyal fan.P.S. If we can't get a movie deal, will you at least consider a sequel. Maybe it could be about Debra finding a new love and Shelby and Tyrel having marital problems

Review: It took me two months to read this book. I didn't want the book to end and not have another one of Eric's books to read. I have read all of his books and I am waiting for another. I was not prepared for Leonard's death. I was glad that Shelby and Tyrel did reunite. I truly have enjoyed all of his books. It is a must read.

Review: This was such a gripping page turning book that I just couldn't put down. I never lost intrest and looked forward to the next chapter. So real, intense and exciting, I couldn't keep it to myself.
