Rating: Summary: Best novel I've ever read!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Eric does a great job of relating to male/female relationships. I cried, laughed, and totally related to my sistahs in the book. I constantly had to look at Eric's picture on the back of the book to believe that a man wrote this book and related so well to black women. I'm still in search of my Tyrel!
Rating: Summary: Finally a good story from a man's point of view Review: I have read all of Eric's books. From the very first book to Cheaters, I was constantly amazed at his ability to realistically write about the complex feelings women experience in their daily lives. I really cared about the characters, something that is extremely important when I read a fiction novel. I found myself really not caring too much about the characters in his first novel, Sister Sister, (I read Milk in My Coffee first) and I am glad I did not read that one first. But you can really see the difference the second time around. I hope that we can experience more writing from Mr. Dickey about relationships, because each time I read, I learn a little bit more!
Rating: Summary: Thin, Predictable Plot & Terrible Ending Review: This book opened with great promise. I hoped the leading male character would continue to explore his past for insight into his relationships with women. Instead, the chapters droned on with the same kind of excessive-adjective-use, name-brand product-advertising, and unnecessary-sex that has kept me away from most of the modern African-American fiction writers. Oh well...back to the classics.
Rating: Summary: Impressive! I could relate to every character. Review: I have never encountered a male author who could write women so well. This book captivated my attention from jump street. I could relate to almost every situation in this story. I have read it four times already and find something new in each reading.
Rating: Summary: Just one of Dickey's OUTSTANDING Books!!! Review: I had never heard of Dickey before my girlfriend showed me Milk in My Coffee. That was also great. Friends and Lovers had me in tears. The characters are so real and you find yourself in some of the same situations, maybe with different outcomes. I was unable to put the book down. The way he described each intense scene made you want to hurry and get to the next page and see what was happening.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put the book down!!! Review: This is the best book I have read in a long time. Nothing got done until I finished this book. The characters are real, warm and funny. I recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: I have never cried before when I read a book.... Review: I cannot wait to read more of Eric Jerome Dickey's work. This book really moved me in many ways. It was funny yet serious. The characters were so real to me, they were like friends of mine. I laughed and I cried. I also recommend reading Milk In My Coffee. I have noticed on the train that men as well as women have been reading these books. Very interesting! I wrote the author and asked him to please keep writing. Mr. Dickey is so in tune with what women as well as men feel and I am sure that is why he writes so well. Enjoy....I did and will continue to do so.
Rating: Summary: One of the best black love story ever. Review: One of the best black love story ever. Fill with romance, sex, heartache, and love.
Rating: Summary: I didn't want to put it down!!! Review: This book, in my opinion, was the best book I have ever read. I've have read all of Eric Jerome Dickey's books, with the exception of "Cheaters", and I found all orf them to be exceptional. However, this book shows his unbelievable ability to capture both the feminine side, as well as the masculine side of both point of views. Being an African- American woman, I feel that Eric Jerome Dickey will go far beyond many of the African- American writers that have books available now!
Rating: Summary: Moving story line and believable characters Review: This was one of the most moving books I have read in a long time. The characters are real and they become part of you. E.J.D. has the ability to make you laugh out loud at the antics of his characters in one chapter and then he can reduce you to tears in the next chapter. His insight on women is amazing he expresses many of the things that women feel and he tends to know our secrets and what we like to discuss behind closed doors. He gives equal time to the male characters in his books and a woman can learn a lot about the inner workings of a man's mind.
