Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful Wizardry!!! Review: This story was wonderfully writen!! The setting and the timing was supurb. One would be able to actually believe that this type of magic happens. The story isn't far fetched at all. Very believable. The hint of romance was perfect for a story such as this.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Excellent escape Review: The continuing adventures of Maierelon the magician and Kim his ward does not disappoint the reader. It is a delightfully fun mystery with plenty of humor and action to keep you hooked. I had a hard time putting it down. When Kim agreed to be Mairelon's ward she had no idea what she was getting into. There were so many rules and the mere idea of her being a "lady" was laughable. Lessons, lessons and more lessons were beginning to take there toll on her when she stumbles upon a burgler...literally. He escapes, but there are definitely clues for Kim and Mairelon to follow. A marvelous mystery follows that leads Kim back into her old neighborhood drawing upon all of her resources. The wonderful world of Victorian England mixed with magic is a great background for a mystery and the reader will not be disappointed. And not to spoil it for anyone but......there is finally a bit of resolution to the relationship between Kim and Mairelon.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good Book! Review: I loved this! The setting was definitely London, with the common social niceties, but the addition of magic and wizards made it a completely DIFFERENT London. I loved the characters, especially Mairelon's mother. Then, there's the romance- it was incredibly sweet! I would recommend this great book for any one who liks fantasy OR for those who like Regency Romances. Read it!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Absolutely Stunning! Review: Wow, I just love fantasy books, and this was one of the greatest. I have read some of the Dealing with Dragons series by the same author (which I didn't realize at first), and her work is very good. I would recommend this book to everyone I know. Full of romance, tension, and laughs, this book will make you want to pull one of those all-nighters reading. I must admit that the cover did not seem appealing to me (yes I know I shouldn't judge the books I read by their covers, but I do anyways), but after reading the back and the beginning I decided to take a chance with it. It was worth it! You should definately read this books. I has tons of unexpected twists and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful with so much excitement and thrill! Review: This book is a carry on to "Mairelon the Magician." You do not need to read the first book to understand the contents of this book. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. Wonderful right up to the end. Leaves you to wonder what could happen next!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Please say there'll be a third book! Review: I loved this book even more than I loved Mairelon the Magician. I had originally taken both books (I have them in one hardcover copy) to work to read on break, but got so into them that I spent both of my days off doing nothing but reading! I wish she would write more books in this series! Mairelon and Kim must have more adventures coming their way.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: wonderful! Review: An excting sequel which, i think, surpasses the first. true it could of stood a few more details, but it is still a great book. the characters are great and the plot is interesting. Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Interesting but needs more descriptions Review: While I enjoyed this book, it is not that great of a book. The main problem is the almost complete absence of details and descriptions. While too many details can bog you down, none at all makes the book a little two-dimensional. A few character-sketches and descriptions of some of the people would have made them come alive. As in Mairelon the Magician, Wrede has too many insignificant characters that she is alsways trying to drag in and the plot is more comlicated than is necessary. A few times it seemed like she was really stretching the magic use (would there really be that many spells for everything?) in order to make the plot work. However, I loved the idea of a world basically the same, just with magic, and anything relating to it I usually found enthralling (more deatils, please!). Mairelon and Kim were amusing, Mrs. Lowe was funny, and Lady Wendall was definitely a fun character. Wrede just needed to tell a little more to have made it a great book!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Nice concepts but... Review: The ideas behind the book are good, alternative universe where magic works, but the execution is poor. Fast-paced, yes, because details are missing. Too sketchy, needs more to flow properly. Entertaining but shallow treatment of the characters and concepts.
