Rating: Summary: Great story read by Gates Review: Gates McFadden does an exemplary job of reading this interesting tale. The story concerns a mysterious stone that has effected numerous civilizations over many thousands of years. The USS Enterprise-D under the command of Captain Picard gets involved when Beverly is asked to diagnose and treat a Vulcan archeologist who may be suffering from Bendii Syndrome, a very rare disease with which she has some experience. That Vulcan may have information on the stone, AKA: The Devil's Heart. Picard, quite the archeologist himself, is particularly interested in the mission, perhaps too much! McFadden does a great job of differentiating between characters and that helps the story move along at a fast pace. If you enjoy this audio-book, then I recommend another read by her: Star Trek TNG-Reunion.
