Rating: Summary: DON"T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER !!! Review: After reading this book, I will never be swayed by the cover again. This book does not live up to the wonderful illustration on the jacket. It is very confusing in the beginning as well as at the end. The action confuses the plot and there are too many characters. So admire the cover, but save your money and don't buy it! This is definitely not Harry Potter. It doesn't even approach "The Lord of the Rings".
Rating: Summary: A terrific book, very well written. Review: As far as the book goes, it's excellent. The book had a good plot and rarely had a dull moment. The characters were extremely strong but at times I found Byron.... whinny. He was a good character but he just seemed to be frightened fairly easily considering he was the leader of a search for a great savior. I did find some scenes very emotional and although I don't particularly enjoy that I realize there are several different audiences to please. There were several things in the book that at first didn't seem too important, but in the end turned out to have a major impact on the story. I can't wait to read more of the series and I'm sure that it won't disappoint. That which I loved most was defiantly the strong upholding of action and the unexpected twists. That which I disliked the most was the sentimental scenes but once again I realize it was necessary. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a good plotted, fantasy, action packed, and semi-suspenseful book. I find many books good but few that are so good I find myself thinking about them when I'm reading them, so when I say that I found myself wanting to get back to the book, take it as a major compliment. I would give this book a 4 on a personal account, a 4 on character structure, but for strictly how well written it is, I give it a 5.
Rating: Summary: Next installment please... Review: Great book. Rockin logo. Do you sell T-shirts? Baseball caps? ACTION FIGURES????
Rating: Summary: Susie Review: I am 9 years old and I thought this book was ok. Not great, not horrible. Maybe better for boys than girls. Every scene was really busy. Some of the people/things seemed weird. I don't think I would read it again. I usually read my favorite books two times.
Rating: Summary: A fun and exciting story Review: I found this book to be a very exciting adventure story that I could not put down. I did not want the book to end, in fact, I was craving more pages to read when I finished the last chapter! I enjoyed all the character and I hope to learn more about them in future books. I think the author wrote a wonderfull story, and I believe just about anyone over 8 would love this book.
Rating: Summary: Thomas from San Francisco Review: I have to agree with Maria from New York. This book was very disappointing to me. I am ten years old and live in San Francisco and was very excited to read this book when I saw the cover. My mom thought I would like it too. Some parts were scary but others were hard to understand. I would definitely read Harry Potter again before reading any more of this series if it ever comes out. Maybe it would be better if it just had alot of pictures and drawings.
Rating: Summary: A Very Enjoyable Adventure Review: I really enjoyed this book. With some books I found that the beginnings were very slow. I don't really like slow beginnings, unless I know it's going to lead up to something really interesting. Silverlance was interesting right away. It is somewhat like The Lord of the Rings meets The Chronicles of Narnia.
After the first chapter or two I could hardly put it down and I wanted to read it all the way though, I ended up finishing it in two days. All the characters have lovable qualities and you get extremely attached to all of them. I liked the dryads the most, I thought they were probably some of the most interesting characters in the book. I liked Shilo a lot too, mostly because of her ability of talking to animals. I'm a total animal lover so I found myself wishing I could talk to animals just like Shilo.
The story-line shows you that if you believe in something, then it doesn't really matter what anyone else says. I thought this book was really enjoyable and I can't wait till the next book Dwarvenhearth. I am eager to see what it has in store for all of the characters of this book.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I really liked it. it is good and i read a lot of books. Very fun peoples and animal-peoples and very enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: Silverlance Review: I think this book is the best ever! It is most likable 8-12. I'm 8 years old. It is 1st place in my scale. It isn't all boys that are brave and mighty but everyone is. Everyone should have a copy of it with them. Byron has quite an adventure with his friends. A star named Silverlance is legendary and known everywhere! He meats others that are following the star like he is. Find out about this never ending story Silverlance. Erica
Rating: Summary: True Adventure Review: I've read the book and loved it. Loved the characters, I feel like I have new friends. The book was filled with wonderful adventures. I recommend.
