Rating: Summary: So So Review: Character development is lacking, and things seem to happen quickly and unexplained. It's not a deep story by any means. Starts out when a boy Shun is headed to school and gets attacked by an alien, it is revealed that he has the ability to open a Gate, a form of power, and he is made captain of the GateKeepers, an all female (save for Shun) team of Gate users that protects the world. The story moves fast and relationships pop out from no where. It's a decent read but much of the story and its subplots go unexplained.

Rating: Summary: Open the Gate! Review: If you've seen the series, don't make the mistake thinking that this is the same. Yes, they still fight invaders and a rogue Gatekeeper, but a lot of stuff has changed. There is no mention of "Runny-Nose Rurippe", nor of Shun's family. The rest of the team are girls, and are already with Aegis by the time Shun arrives. Everyone is a whole lot nicer to each other in this story, and some other elements have changed. But even if (especially if) you are a fan of the anime, I recommend you read this book.
