Summary: A well written and fun read. A great twisted plot.
Review: Mr. Was gripped me from the Author's comments at the beginning to the very end. I couldn't wait to see what would happen through the myriad twists and turns of the plot. It is written for a "young adult" audience but I loved it--and I'm over forty.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book is very adventures
Review: Mr. Was is a confusing, exciting book. It won't let you set it down. You will love this book, but you might get lost once in a while, but towards the end it will all make sense. Peter Hautman is a talanted author, and I would suggest you read some of his other books, too.

Summary: Defiantly taking world of literature to new heights!
Review: Mr. Was took me into a fictional world, where time travel and secret doors are real. It made me think the way Jack thought by way of the author's vividly written descriptions. Ryan DeForest, 6th Grade, Highland Elementary School, Clarkston, WA

Summary: Amazing Book
Review: This book absolutely blew my mind. When taking it out from the library, I was expecting a good tale of time travel coupled with some teenage angst, but this book went way beyond my expectations. So suspenceful this book had me on the edge the entire evening while I was reading, and kept me up til midnight flipping page after page, not willing to put it down. The subject of time travel has been explored by many authors. But in my opinion, this book went beyond the ordinary and twisted time travel up into a pretzel, into something I had never expected or seen in a work of literature before. The psychology examinations and millitary documents exerted into each chapter made the book more chilling, and almost rendered the story believable. The teenage angle was also worked in very well. I could totally relate to the character, and follow his train of thought in the dilemas occuring. Overall, everything about this book just came together and WORKED. Nothing was contrained or cheesy, as time travel novels can often be reduced to, and I JUST LOVED THIS BOOK!!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: It was boring, slow and uneventful.
Review: This book had no plot and doesn't have any exciting parts. It was a waste of my time and our teacher should never have read it to us. I hope I never have to read one of Pete Hautmen's books again. I would rather read the dictionary.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Confusing.
Review: This book has a very good, twisty storyline, but I found it a little confusing at times. Despite this defect Mr. Was is an interesting book and I suggest you read it.
