Rating: Summary: Absolutly one of the most fantastic books I've ever read Review: BEFORE you read this, you should read Emerald Eyes, the prequel. You will have to read this book a couple times in order to catch the greater plot. This book is one of a series with a overall plot between them. The Long Run is about 'Trent', a young man who is the last of his kind. Trent is a genetically engineered human with a tiny flaw. Everyone else was a telepath, Trent is simply a genius with an intense desire to live in a better world. Each and every character is developed and is significant. The pace of the book is excellent. I've read this one nearly 20 times
Rating: Summary: the long run Review: I dont know why he quit writing, all of his books have been extremely original and entertaining.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I Ever Read Review: I first found this book on the free book shelf in my high school. I couldn't put it down. The characters are well developed and have lively personalities. Who knew hacking was so much sport.
Rating: Summary: Probably the best SF book I have ever read Review: I found this book in a hotel whilst on holiday in Mexico nearly 10 years ago. I read it twice then and read it probably 2-3 times a year. the concept of hardwiring into computer systems is nothing new but the ease with which Moran describes the process is breathtaking. The characters are hugely entertaining and the plot keeps you going from beginning to end. I waited with huge anticipation for the next book in the series and was quite disappointed with the Last Dancer. It's sad that in 10 years he's only produced two books. It would apprear to be quite unlikely that we are going to see all 33 novels in the tales of the continuing time. That gets to me a bit as there were so many characters introduced in this book and so many questions unanswered and the reality of it all is that I'll probably never know
Rating: Summary: what a find! Review: I found this lying around in the break room where i work. 24 hours later i'd finished it. What a detailed and deliteful tale! Aside from some minor stumbling plot points the text read itself. the information was densely packed yet immediatly readable. Its been a long time since i've enjoyed a sci-fi book this much. So i came online to find other books. only to find that they are out of print...if you can find copies of this book, read them..then hunger for the others as i do.

Rating: Summary: One of the Best... Review: I picked up "The Last Dancer", a sort-of sequel to this book, when it first was published because the cover grabbed my attention...then I became more interested in Moran's other works. While the Last Dancer was a very busy, involved, and complicated book, this one is much more satisfying, mostly because the protagonist a stronger (though no less realistic) character. The Long Run not only tells a great, fast-paced story, but gives a detailed and convincing portrait of a menacingly possible future without seeming to. I've reread it several times, as well as "Emerald Eyes" (the precursor to the Long Run" and "The Last Dancer". While Moran has already written one or two other books in the series, he is unable to publish them because the publisher who bought them won't print them and he's trying to buy them back. I've alse read "The Ring", which is a rather good book even if Mr. Moran doesn't think so, and his self-published effort with his sister, "Terminal Freedom", and both are rabidly entertaining works. It's rare that an author comes along with such an amazing sense of humor, reality, and justice.

Rating: Summary: An above-average action novel, good character development. Review: Moran fleshes out an intricate action plot around an excellent main character in Trent and interesting antagonists. This is an entertaining and fast-moving story line, leaving the reader with no opportunity to sleep. The technical background is sufficiently imaginative to still be challenging almost 10 years later. All in all, this is well worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Well worth the read! Review: Not a *great* book, but a *very good* book. Great pacing, good use of humor, nice technofun, the characters are people you will feel you know and care about. I'd say LONG RUN is to "books" as ALIENS and DIE HARD are to "films". No earth-shattering new ideas, they aren't going to change your life, but solid skillfully crafted entertainment.
