Summary: How long have I waited...
Review: Ever since I met Tedra and Challen, I have been waiting to see what their children would do. I thoroughly enjoyed Shani's story, Keeper of the Heart, and her husband was quite the stud as well. But Dalden, he was the one I was waiting for.

Better yet, Dalden came to Earth to save us from invasion by a true megalomaniac we met in Shani's story. This is where he meets Brittany, a tall, big boned woman who likes construction and fitness and has yet to find the perfect man for her. So how many of us have? And then, just as we all dream of it, she spots Dalden across a crowded mall and it all falls into place. As Martha would say, she got her socks knocked right off, and so did Dalden. In the Ly-San-Ter family the question always boils down to this: what wouldn't you do to make the love your life happy?

In my mind, the question has always been, what wouldn't I do if I found the man I was meant to be with for the rest of my life. Brittany has to face that question squarely when she begins to realize that Dalden isn't from some distant country with a name you can't pronounce, and when she realizes she is in love with a man from another world entirely, she has some serious thinking to do.

Dalden was a product of two completely different worlds, his mother's advanced race, and his father's 'barbaric' race. He devoted himself to his warrior's honor and when he saw Brittany he realized that there was another part of himself that was empty and could only be filled with one thing.

This is a fantastic read, and even if you don't have all three of the books that encompass the Ly-San-Ter family, you'll love each of the characters as you meet them. I suggest, however, that you get Warrior's Woman and Keeper of the Heart so that you can enjoy these love stories over and over.

Thank you, Johanna, for giving me Dalden and Brittany and completing the Ly-San-Ter family!

Summary: A Sci-Fi Love Fantasy
Review: Many reviewers found this book disappointing, but I certainly did not. While many stars from several readers is always an indication that a book must be good, those with few stars do not necessarily mean the opposite, that the book is bad. This is one such book. As fans of Ms. Lindsey's many books know, and I have now read them all, Ms. Lindsey usually is an exceptional writer. A few of her books are less fabulous, but even when they are not up to her very best, they are usually better than many other books out there. In this series which includes Warrior's Woman and Keeper of the Heart, both better than this book, Ms. Lindsey has created a science fiction love fantasty that is quite extraordinary. The first two books are absolutely gripping. This one is not, but it has other things to recommend it. First, it is VERY funny. The misunderstandings between planetary cultures are hilarious. Second, this is the book that fully explains all the culture, customs and everything a space rookie would want to know about living on a strange planet. That tends to get tedious for many readers I think, unless they are sci-fi afficinados. Also, she carries the plotline involving disbelief too long. Instead of making the heroine Brittany come to terms with it as a side plot line, she makes that the dominant one of the book and it tends to get a little boring. I am not sure if I read an abridged version or censured version, but this book did not have the love scenes that so characterize her other books. So for readers primed to expect certain behavior from the characters, this book does not have it, and I suppose some may be disappointed as a result. Again, am not sure if there is an abridged form or not. For me, the negatives were minor as Ms. Lindsey's books always provide a wonderful excape mechanism.

Summary: Heart of a Warrior
Review: I'm glad I was not the only one to find this Johanna Lindsey romance disappointing to say the least. There was absolutely no chemistry between Dalden and Brittany and I finished the book feeling like I didnt know anything about the characters. There was way to much story and the interesting topics (that being when they went back to Daldens home) was completely lacking in terms of sensuality or more to the point readability. Dalden sounded scrumptious and Brittany's no nonsense attitude could have blended to have made the all time romance. I was so frustrated with the book I skimmed through a second time just to make sure I hadnt missed anything. The worst thing about this book is that I bought it straight off the shelf and now feel like I've been ripped off. Now I know Johanna has been in the business a long time, and perhaps there is a lot of pressure to get more books out, but I would rather see her take 2 years for another novel rather than get another one so pathetically put together as this one.

Summary: A poor third installment...
Review: If you loved "Warrior's Woman" and "Keeper of the Heart," then like me, you were anxiously waiting for Dalden's story. In a word, the book was "pathetic." There was just too much story, and absolutely no chemistry between the characters. Who really cared about the whole conflict of the inter-worlds? And Dalden's punishment was a joke! It is official now, after many disappointing new books, Johanna Lindsey has lost her touch.

Summary: Who wrote this book? Not Lindsey
Review: I understand that it is a standard practice for romance writers who are successful to get a break and let someone else write using their name. However when will Johanna wake up and smell the coffee. As with the past 4 books. This book does not measure up. The problem here is that we have to pay more for hard backs and we should get more for our money, not less. I used to purchase ALL her books. Now I just borrow them or go to the library. Her books USED to make me want to read them over and over again. Now I struggle reading the book once. I don't know who is editing these books, but they should have their head examined. This book could not have been written by the same person who wrote the first two books in this series.

Summary: A Big Disappointment
Review: Johanna Lindsay authored "Angel", one of my all-time favorite romances. So, I was sorely disappointed when I bought "Heart of a Warrior" and started reading. I kept waiting for it to get better. Instead it steadily went downhill. There was absolutely no chemistry between the hero and heroine. Ms. Lindsay is so talented, I hope she will return to writing the kinds of stories she does best.

Summary: Very disappointing
Review: It was like wading through a science text book. I love her historical romance, but this had me desperately trying to find some spark with the characters. There is so much background information before we ever even get into the action, so much telling instead of showing, which breaks all the basic rules of novel writing, that I wonder she ever thought that all the details about the heroins roommate and the heroes entire family, sister, brother in law etc, was even remotely important compared to the essential aspect of romance: the hero and heroine are shown to fall in love.

Summary: Two words: Soooo bad.
Review: I can usually expect a decent read from Johanna Lindsey. Sometimes predictable, but generally not regrettable. I've never regretted a purchase more. I couldn't even get through the first 50 pages. Save your money.

Summary: Am I supposed to like these characters?
Review: I am never reading Lindsey again - okay, it's a fluffy romance (which I usually can enjoy), but this story is not merely outrageous and the characters one-dimensional, but this story goes way over the line of a suspension of disbelief, it requires a suspension of sympathy as well. The basic story involves a "warrior" from another planet ruled by men (the women on his world are second-class citizens) who comes to Earth, and basically kidnaps a woman because he falls in love with her, and she, at least, has the hots for him. Getting her away from Earth without the least protest from her despite what is described as her lovely family (I suppose they don't show in the story as we aren't supposed to pity their sure and unseen distress when the main character disappears without word or trace), is due to her being in a state of shock, understandable since she is given no say in the departure. Okay, she's in shock. But when she finally accepts this may be all real (the premise is she at first thinks space travel and the other worlds are all an elaborate hoax), we readers are supposed to believe she is now okay with dumping her own life goals? Because she's in love? Am I supposed to like anyone this shallow? For one, the idea that he married her without her knowledge or consent, which she never actually gives, is extremely troubling. This woman had goals in her life on Earth, a dream of building her own house for which she has spent most of her adult life working and saving, and we're supposed to believe she just tosses this life's ambition out the window because she's "in love"? can anyone respect such an attitude? But what I really don't get is the callousness of both these people in not giving this woman's loved ones back on Earth a second thought. This story completely trivializes the subject of the incredible numbers of women who go missing every year - they don't get whisked off by lovers, they usually get killed by them. To imply anything else, even in what is obviously a ridiculous and unrealistic romance, is irresponsible. I still love romance, and won't stop reading them, but can we get some real characters (to say nothing of authors) who take women's goals and lives seriously?

Summary: Interesting third book in a series.
Review: I am not an habitual reveiwer, in fact, it is my first and probably last time, but I felt compelled to comment because of the largely negative reviews given this book. Contrary to most, I really enjoyed it, for several reasons. How many times have we asked authors like Johanna Lindsey to do away with violence, rape, and the forcing of females. When authors comply, we give them miserable reviews, saying the book lacks substance! I feel that Ms. Lindsey has grown to a new level with this book. She retains the passion and tone of the other books, but expands on background information and many of the unanswered questions I had about life on Dalden's planet after the fist two books. She has found a way to resolve the "punishment" issue, at least making it less important, as it couldn't be suddenly "gotten rid of" while keeping the continuity of the 3 books. I also enjoyed the compromise reached at the end of the book by Dalden, leaving hope that there will be some changes in future treatment of women on his planet, and showing growth of his character. In contrast with most reviewers, I found Brittany's continued skepticism believable - I would be very reluctant to "believe" in aliens, even when wanting to, and would search for other explanations even while hoping it was true! Wouldn't you? Maybe it's time we decided what we REALLY want from an author, and when it is delivered, take the time to appreciate that some changes in style will follow, and adapt to these changes, instead of expecting one book to be a carbon copy of the last. I hope we see more of these worlds in the future, maybe with Jadelle Van'Yer's story, or that of another warrior. Thanks to the author for an interesting read, I appreciated it.
