Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: I was glad to find Ms. Lindsey back on top on her game. I did not enjoy her last book "The Heir," but this one was wonderful. The characters had depth and were very entertaining. I would highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed! Review: As soon as I saw a new Johanna Lindsey book I bought it. I never wait for the paperback if I can get her books in hardcover. Now all I can say is that I am sooo disappointed that I actually own this book! This book does not come close to the other two in the series. The most basic things I found disappointing were: 1)there was a lot of telling, no showing. It was if I was reading a synopsis of an experience instead of reading the experience, 2) there was no fire! no passion! I didn't care if these two ever got together and I wished they would send her back home, 3) there was much mention of her roomate and their relationship at the begining and then we just left poor Jan when they left earth; if we weren't supposed to care about her, why put her in the story to begin with? The only character with much personality in this story was Martha. I'm so sad :( This has happened to me berore; I purchased a book from one of my favorite authors hot off the press only for it to turn out to be something a first-time author could never get published. If you still want to read this book (I know many will find it hard to believe it could be so bad) take it out from the library. I hope there will be another Mallory novel featuring Jeremy and I pray that it is as good as the rest!
Rating: Summary: Heart of a Computer Review: This book should have been called "Heart of a Computer" since it was really about the vast capabilities of the Mock II. Martha did everything, went everywhere, and fixed most of the problems. Why was Dalden so passive? He was not raised that way. Why was Britanny so pathetic? American women are famous for their ability to embrace new frontiers. This book was filled with boring monologue from the omnipresent Martha about why the cultures of the two of them were so different. Why didn't Ms. Lindsay write scenes in which these differences become exposed and create conflict, humor or love as she did in the other two books about the Ly San Ters. Then we could discover the differences for ourselves and enjoy reading about the solutions she writes for her characters. Maybe she's just gotten lazy and she decided to let Martha handle that too.
Rating: Summary: another winner!! Review: I was very excited when I heard that Dalden is getting his own book and I bought it as soon as I can. I didn't even wait for a cheaper price. To me, this book is another winner from Johanna, however there is one thing that kind of annoy me. It is Brittany of course. Man, that girl is so uuggghh!!!! I just want to shake some, hmm.. i can't describe it, but I think ya'll know what I'm trying to say, into her. But, the bottom line is, buy this book people!! It's worth it.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I had heard mixed reviews about this book so I decided to check it out from the library rather than purchase it. I was glad I did not waste my money. I loved Warrior's Woman and really enjoyed Keeper of the Heart but this book did not even come close. The heroine is extremely annoying, she continues to deny everything over and over again until the very end when she finally accepts the reality of the situation. I could see this up to a point, it would be very hard to accept that you are in the company of someone from another planet let alone visit that planet yourself. But her denial is stretched too far, to the point she thinks the whole thing is some kind of expensive elaborte set up, taking months, just to fool little ole her. The relationship between her and Dalden lacks the intensity of the other two novels. It was really rather dull. There is a large build up to the point where he must inflict a Warrior's punishment on her by way of sexual frustration but it's all over in a small paragraph that left me disappointed. I just didn't feel any passion between them and all the arguing back and forth over whether everything was real got tiresome.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing But Still A Good Read Review: I have read every Johanna Lindsey book, and I have to say thisone was missing something. It lacked the intense emotional and explicit scenes I usually associate with a Lindsey book. I was a bit disappointed, but it was still worth the $$ spent buying it. The plot could have been developed a little more, and the characters seemed to missing the usual VAVOOM normally Lindsey puts out. I have to agree with the other reviews I've read, I felt that this book was a little rushed just to get something out on the shelves. All in all if I would still buy the book again, and look forward to many more books from Ms Lindsey.
Rating: Summary: Mixed Feelings Also Review: I really was glad to get my hands on this book, as I too wanted to keep up with Tedra and her children. I especially liked the running commentary about Earth and the fact that it is supposedly a young planet on the outer fringes of space. It put things in an interesting perspective, and I find myself thinking about it quite often.I agree with the reviewer who stated that this book appeared to be more about Martha than Dalden, but then, Martha is a hoot and one of my favorite characters. Dalden and Brittany were a bit shallow, and the passion was not as intense as in the other books. It was understandable that Brittany was not believing that she was dealing with "off-worlders", as we Earthlings are taught to not believe in them. I was especially glad to catch up with Tedra and Challan, as they are still my all time favorites. Ms. Lindsey did a very good job of trying to fill in the background for those who have not read the previous two (are there really people who haven't?), and I was glad of this as it has been many years since I read the first one. I agree that reading the first two makes this story more interesting, though. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will re-read it again and again. I sincerely hope we visit these planets and people again many more times.
Rating: Summary: A nice addition to the warrior series Review: This book starts off a little convoluted and slow, but picks up nicely and finishes well. It's not Lindsey's best work, but it's a good read and worth the money. This is an engaging series and should be expanded to include the experiences of the women abducted from Kystran in the first book...hint, hint.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable reading Review: Johanna Lindsey has continued the one of my favorite story lines (besides the Mallory's) with the tale of Dalden Ly-San-Ter and Brittany Callaghan. This is the third book in this series; I have enjoyed each one and would buy them again. I would have given this book a 5 if Brittany had been more truthful with herself. She travels through space, sees strange animals, gorgeous hunks of manhood, different plants and trees. Yet she keeps insisting that she is involved in some kind of "movie program" and hasn't really left earth. Geez, I would have embraced Dalden and off world travel like I would accept winning the Lottery. Where do I catch that space craft? Dalden?
Rating: Summary: Excellent sf romance Review: Dalden follows Jorran to planet earth to stop the rebel from using his mind altering rods to gain control of the world. However, in his wildest dreams as a warrior, Dalden never anticipated dealing with the complex California mall. He is fortunate that Brittany Callaghan takes pity on the obviously lost soul and agrees to become his guide. Dalden quickly realizes the impossible has occurred as he knows he has met his eternal partner on this backwater planet. Still, he struggles with persuading Brittany that he is not of this earth and that they are interstellar soul mates. He shows her his ship as proof, but soon has a final confrontation with his enemy Jorran who sees Dalden's beloved Brittany as the ultimate pawn in their fight. HEART OF A WARRIOR is Johanna Lindsey's latest science fiction romance that will thrill readers who enjoy cross-cultural romances. The plot never lacks for action as Dalden battles mall rats, his beloved, and Jorran. The characters are charming, amusing and quite sensual as Ms. Lindsey strikes a strong accord with sub-genre fans with this out of this world romantic romp. Harriet Klausner
