Rating: Summary: Synopsis Review: Varian is many things: a Lord Baron who cares deeply for his people; a shape-shifter who can take on the form of an ice leopard -- and an unwilling minion of the God of Evil. When he bargains for his freedom from his Master, he does not expect the price to be the bride he does not yet have. Cathlin is thrilled when Lord Varian proposes to her, a mere Trader's daughter, for she has loved him from childhood. She does not know that her love will be tested as the fate of two kingdoms hangs in the balance... For years I've read the works of other authors and marveled at their worlds and characters. If I'd known how much more fun it is to create my own, this book would have been out years ago! I hope my readers enjoy my world and my people as much as I enjoyed creating them. Alanna
Rating: Summary: mediocre Review: Well worn themes, well worn treatment, nothing particularly fresh. I'd give the author a try again, since this seems to be a first effort. But this one is headed straight for the sell pile.
Rating: Summary: Check this one out for yourself... Review: Who needs werewolves when you've got the Leopard Lord? I thought it was good. Some people may think that it's "fluff" reading (in the vein of Mercedes Lackey), but I feel it has a solid "taste" to it that keeps the story fresh and entertaining. I suggest that you check this one out for yourself.
Rating: Summary: I liked it! Review: Why do people expect every book to be an epic tomblike Fantasy? I thought the book was a good read. It was not deeply involved, but the characters had depth and I was really interested in their fate. I hope she comes out with a sequel!
Rating: Summary: Worth Watching Review: Why is it that just because a book leaves you refreshed and cheerful it's "light reading" meaning "junk book/waste of time"? This is such a book, but that doesn't mean it is a waste of time -- quite the contrary. For a first book this shows a lot of promise. Her characterization is good, her world shows a lot of thought and her writing is smooth flowing. The pacing seemed choppy at times, but that comes with experience. The Leopard Lord was a very credible effort and I'll buy her next book, whether it is about these characters or different ones.
