Rating: Summary: Another masterpiece from Christie Golden Review: And here I thought nothing could possibly match up to the first book! I had been waiting for this prequel since last fall, and I'm glad to say that it was well worth the wait. The book was an absolute thrill ride, and I finished it in one sitting because I just couldn't bear to put it down. It certainly does clarify a lot of David's past, and Christie was able to give more insight into the characters themselves and their relationships with each other. A MUST READ! Oh, and, Ms.Golden, if you're reading this, can we expect any more IA books coming out in the near future?
Rating: Summary: Oh~ Yeah! Review: Finally, A prequel worthy of the original! I loved it! Thanx to all those out there who are trying to save IA! Just one question...is there a next book coming out? and when????
Rating: Summary: Sequel, or rather "prequel," to INVASION AMERICA Review: I have to say, I am very excited about this book. I did a lot of research and so this is kind of a science fiction medical thriller/mystery novel. Think Robin Cook meets Tony Hillerman in a Steven Spielberg world and you've got the picture! Cale Oosha Lives!
Rating: Summary: DAVID LIVES! Review: I just finished this book, but I can only give it ***½ out of 4. One reason was that there were spelling mistakes scattered throughout the book - I laughed out loud when "the Dagit fell silent, brooding." Another was that the book was noticeably more violent than the show - the series was rated PG, but the interrogation scene and Susie's death (is that her name? I can't remember) bring it up to about 14-V. And the dates in June 1981 were completely hosed. In fact, the date of the first chapter doesn't make that much sense either. It should be 06/08/1998, not 04/12/1981. Remember the space shuttle from the series? That was obviously not 1998 technology, and I don't know why everyone else insists it was.Go to the Invasion America Newsletter and the Invasion America Snail-Mail Petition websites to find out how you can help save IA. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to include URLs in a review, so you'll have to just email me. PS: Be sure to celebrate David's birthday next January 13!
Rating: Summary: The animated series elaborated with more on dad. Review: I loved "On the Run" even better than the first book because it went in a different direction than "Invasion America" (the first book). The Native American Indians in the book were so cool, just like the Tyrusians! This story tells of the days before the main character,David, was born and it is more about Cale, the father. We didn't get to see a whole lot of him in the animated series, but more in the first book by Christie Golden. I hope we are privilaged enough to have Christie write another. Thanks.
Rating: Summary: Loved this book! Review: I've been captivated by INVASION AMERICA since it first started airing last summer, and was very eager to read this book. It didn't disappoint me. It was great reading more about my favorite characters, and now I have several new ones to be attached to as well. The author provides plausible answers to some questions that fans have been asking, and adds some enigmas of her own. I hope Dreamworks will take the book seriously enough to incorporate this material into future episodes of the TV program.
Rating: Summary: :) Review: OMG, I can't believe it's been this long since IA aired! It's been a little less than a year since I bought the books and grrr! Hey, Christie, if you ever come back here to read reviews, it would be much appreciated if you had the assignment to write more! Any fan of the show *has* to have this book. I was no less than estatic when it arrived and I after I started reading it, well...Let's just say I wouldn't have even noticed if the house caught on fire. ;) Ooohhh, I wish there was more, be it the rest of the novelization, or sort of a continued prequel. You know, like the time gap between them leaving the Rez and heading for Glenport or basically anything that hasn't already been covered.
Rating: Summary: Why Jaran!?!? Review: The Book was extremely exciting...at last I have the courage to say, I finished it. It was great, but what bummed me the most was that for those of you who read, well you know about Jaran. But I guess that's how the stories go....kinda like a Saving Private Ryan book...
Rating: Summary: This book is a must read!! Review: This book picks up in the middle of the original series, where Rita, Cale, and Rafe are on the run from the Dragit. It really shows a character development in the characters of Cale and Rita. It also introduces a few characters that I wish would've been discussed in the show. I really enjoyed Cale and Rita's relationship, as portrayed in the book. It gives a lot of depth to their relationship. It also explains why Doc was so hesitant to help David in the beginning. It gives a lot of background information and answers a lot of the unanswered questions left from the original series.
Rating: Summary: Tony Hillerman meets Robin Cook in SPACE! Review: Very, Very, good book! This book gives soo much more history and information about the characters than the series does. I loved learning about what happened to Cale, Rafe, and Rita and how David was born. Very chilling and realistic virus introduced, and a flattering portrayal of the Navajo people as well. A word to the previous review which stated that the dates were incorrect. The dates looked just fine to me - the show started with Rita in 1981, David was born in February of 1982 and was 16 by 1998 when the bulk of the show took place. I was so caught up in the great story that I did not notice any typos. Great book, buy it, read it, keep it...
