Summary: A fun read for readers of all ages
Review: In 1981, Aliens from the planet Tyrus led by King Cale come to Earth, peacefully seeking to meet the residents. However, some of the aliens, led by Cale's uncle, The Dragit, feel their leader is wrong about the belligerent and primitive Earthlings. The Dragit leads a revolt that allegedly leaves the Cale dead. In fact he and his Commander Rafe are rescued by an earthling, Rita.

Sixteen years later, David Carter feels that he is just another confused teenager. However, David is soon going to learn that he is a hybrid, part Tyrusian and part Earthling. The Dragit is returning with an invading force, planning to conquer the Earth. It is up two beings, David and Rafe to save the world.

INVASION OF AMERICA is the debut novel of what appears to be a fun, space opera serialization of the animated TV series. The story line is interesting and fast-paced. However, the characters lack motivation and dimension (sort of like the cartoon that it imitates). Still, fans of space operas will enjoy this amiable reading diversion. I know I did and I can't wait for the next installment in the series. There's a lot to be said for a work that is meant to be a pleasurable reading experience-all good!

Summary: Terrific and enjoyable book for all ages
Review: Okay, I had watched the entire TV series, I had chatted online about it, and decided that I loved it. Now the only thing left to do was to read the novelization. "Ughh," I had groaned under my breath with aversion, as most other such books I've read in my life have proved to be disappointing, to say the least. But in the end, it would be an understatement to say that it did not in the least disappoint. In fact, it was terrific, and Christie Golden did a great job in turning a wonderful series into an intelligent novel. So imagine how stupid I must have felt, a grown woman sitting at home reading a book based on an animated series, when I realized that I was unconsciously holding my breath at all the exciting moments, and crying out "Yosh!" along with the characters when they succeeded at something. It's okay, though, because if I had to relive my childhood fantasies of being a hero through a book, I wouldn't be able to think of a better book to ! recommend than this one right here.

Summary: Awesome
Review: Since the network dropped the show, I was relying on this book to tell me more about the story. This is probably one of the better conversions I have seen in a while. Hopefully, there will be a continuation of David's story in the upoming year? Please please please i hope...

Summary: My First Novelization...but it seems to be well received!
Review: Some of you may know me from my Ravenloft novels, where I got my start. Others know me from my Voyager novels. And a few know me from this, my novelization of INVASION AMERICA. I had a lot of fun with this, and judging from the lovely comments by Harve Bennett in the Afterward to the book, I hit the target. Those who want a sequel can breathe easy--you'll find a "prequel," entitled BAD MEDICINE, in stores (probably) in November. In the meantime, if you're hungry for more Christie Golden books, may I suggest my original fantasy novels INSTRUMENT OF FATE and KING'S MAN & THIEF? They're right here at Amazon.Com. If you want to "try before you buy," check out samples at my website.

Summary: I thought the book was great.
Review: The book was great. But the only thing wrong was that I couldn'y read the wholeseries. They should publish all the books before they put one on the market.

Summary: Good novelization
Review: The IA novelization was overall very well done. It was true to the series while still being an interesting book for those that have seen the episodes it covers, and I'd imagine for those who haven't as well.

Invasion America is fast paced and well written, and it does manage to capture the overall feeling of the show. I liked the fact that there are details in there absent from the show (as would be expected), and I also like the fact that Golden was able to reproduce the action sequences and make them exciting on print, without the advantage of animation that the series has.

A few nitpicks stop me from giving it a full five stars, however. Mainly, I didn't care for the first half or so all that much. It really seemed weaker than the ending. It was a bit slow in getting going, though I can't explain exactly why. But, the second half was very good, and I was happy I stuck with it.

Overall, I am really excited over the original IA novel that will be coming out by Christie Golden. I like her writing style and she seems to have the show down (which is probably why the second half is better - she seemed to get a better grasp on the feeling of the series), and I will probably check out some of her other works.
