Summary: STSCE #2 Fatal Error - A great first Trek tale!
Review: For quite some time now I've been reading and hearing so much about how good author Keith R.A. DeCandido's work in Star Trek is and I've been greatly looking forward to getting to "Fatal Error" which is his first Star Trek tale and that anticipation was greatly rewarded in this story.

Although this is a short story I found the plot setup to be perfect and the author's writing style to be extremely well paced lending to a very quick read. This second story in the SCE series also serves quite well in expounding on these new characters, which are all quite interesting.

Just like the first story in the SCE series, the cover art for "Fatal Error" serves well in showing the readers the characters and the ship for this great new series.

The premise:

For millennia, everything on the planet Eerlik has been run by a central computer named Ganitriul, which is located on its moon. When Ganitriul suddenly breaks down, the inhabitants of Eerlik are literally without the option to get to the moon to repair the super computer. Fortunately for the planets inhabitants, Ganitriul itself calls out to Starfleet and in particular, the SCE to assist in its repair.

What follows from there is a highly intriguing tale that, in such a short story, includes a healthy portion of mystery, murder and deceit.

I highly recommend this second story in the Star Trek SCE series. Based on this first story of Keith R.A. DeCandido's alone, I can tell that all of his novels are to be greatly looked forward to! {ssintrepid}

Summary: Another Great original star trek spinoff!
Review: If you are looking for a great set of new adventures in the star trek collection, SEC 2 is a great installment. I hope the series continues as the characters are very well done and the story lines are getting better. Well done!

Summary: A huge improvement over S.C.E. #1
Review: S.C.E. #2 is much better than #1. It's interesting to see another civilization run by a supercomputer, but unlike previous stories with supercomputers, Kirk isn't around to blow it up! It's a good story, a isn't slow at all. My only complaint is that there wasn't more information about the alien's civilization, but that's a minor detail. The character interaction in this book is more interesting than the last, and we get to see some characters that weren't that important in #1.
