Rating: Summary: I could not put it down Review: This book is filled with romance when Dion meets the beautiful Andre. Dion can't make up her mind about this gorgeous hunk but others would be delighted to take her place. Suspense filled to see what happens at the end. This book was a great read and filled with one surprise after another! People who like mysterious circumstances and/or romance will find this book worthwhile, I think.

Rating: Summary: I was done before i even realized i was close to the end Review: this book is really good for Routley's first novel i enjoyed it very much. at first i thought i would not like it because it was a narrative story but after the first page or two i had completely fallen into the story. If you want to read a good narrative story and are interested in women = men situations you should pick up this book.
Rating: Summary: I could not put it down Review: This is a fantastic fantasy masterpiece that explores the areas of love, trust and magic! The characters are so real that they practically leap out at you and everything's so vividly described. This is one of the best books I've ever read and I can't wait to read the rest of the series, Fire Angels and Aramaya.
Rating: Summary: Rather distasteful Review: To Jane Routley's credit, Mage Heart has a very well-paced plot that is both gripping and intense. While Dion didn't much appeal to me, she might well be a fantastic heroine to others. My main complaint with Mage Heart was the writing. Supposedly set in quasi-medieval times, I can assure you that the writing in this novel in no way resembles anything medieval. Apart from that quibble, I also found the language to be excessively explicit and sometimes downright vulgar. If you're in the mood for some decently done action or don't mind the language, Mage Heart is surely the perfect read. However...if you do mind crude language and unbeautiful prose, I'd advise you not to read this. I think I'll stick with Robin McKinley and Patricia A. McKillip, thanks.
Rating: Summary: The Harlequin Romance Novel of Fantasy Review: Unless you are a fan of romance novels I can't believe you'll enjoy reading this book. I have read several other novels that successfully blend romand and fantastic literature so that fans of both enjoy the book - this is not one of them. From the overwrought prose to the heavily telegraphed "climactic" revelation of the villian this book was a huge disappointment. I have nothing against a little bit of bodice-ripping in my reading but this really over did it. However, if you like your women basically witless and hopelessly naive, you may enjoy this book.

Rating: Summary: A Good Begining Review: While I find myself more drawn to slick sci-fi novels, I found MAGE HEART to be a delightfull relaxer. The romance was tawdry but innocent, and the heroine, while a bit on the naive side, grows enough as a person to be believable, but if you are a feminist, I suggest you find another title. Dion, the heroine, is a bit of a push over. But I must say that her love interest Andre would be a well chosen addition to any female's day dreams. But while reading this book, I suggest you turn your brain off. Don't question the dialogue that seems to try for a bygone age but keeps popping up with contemporary phrases. And don't say, "Well, she's a Mage, for goodness's sake! Why doesn't she just ZAP him? " Trust me, it won't do a speck of good. Just sit back and relax and enjoy some mindless entertainment. It's no worse then day time television, right? THE SHORT OF IT: An over all refreshing break from those books that HAVE to say something about society.

Rating: Summary: Terrific new author! Review: Wow- I am so excited. I picked up Mage Heart because the sequel looked so appealing. I have since been recommending it to everyone I know who enjoys romantic fantasy. The main female characters are wonderful- convincing and strong without having to be superwomen. I can't wait to read the sequel and anything else by this author.
