Rating: Summary: refresingly different, a very good read. Review: All I have to say is Heather Gladney is a good author, with a marvoulous story to tell. If you want to know more buy the books. I am very hopeful that a third part will be along soon, for I've been waiting a long time.
Rating: Summary: A great read with engrossing and complex characters. Review: I am currently re-reading Blood Storm for the fift or sixth time. It is an exciting tale of a world at war and the complex relationships of the people and societies of that world which has elements of several levels of technology and civilization. What I am most forcibly struck by is how deftly the first person narration by the viewpoint character, Naga Teot is handled. Naga is plagued by seizures and "visions." The horror with which Naga and his associates regard these episodes comes through clearly even though Naga is usually not conscious and coherent when they happen. I am looking forward to reading more of Naga's story.
Rating: Summary: What a wonderful hero Review: I bought this book (and the first book too) when they first came out from Ace. Naga Teot is a fascinating character who leaps out from the page and grabs the reader by the throat and pulls her into a wild romp of a series. Gladney is a wonderful storyteller, and if her writing is sometimes unclear or hard to follow ... well there aren't very many unfinished trilogies that I pull out and reread once a year or so. Glad to hear she's still out there writing.
Rating: Summary: Re: Teot series Review: I have been waiting a decade to get more Teot work published, through a series of publishing near-misses. I'll be the first to let you know if it changes. As well, working has rather impeded my Real Work. I'm only now getting online. The latest(non-Teot) story was in Catfantastic IV, ed. Andre Norton, whom I met at Atlanta at World Fantasy Con. My profuse thanks to a great lady for encouragement and praise!
Rating: Summary: SPIELBERG WAKE UP! Review: I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE BOOK ONE FOR THE WHOLE STORY. I REREAD THE BOOKS EVERY YEAR. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WOULD MAKE A GREAT MOVIE SERIES WITH JACKIE CHAN AS NAGA TEOT. PLEASE, PLEASE FINISH THE STORY!
Rating: Summary: Wanted: Naga Teot (presumed dead) Review: I logged onto Amazon and went to the science fiction section hoping against hope that I would find the next installment of The Song of Naga Teot. With a sigh, I noted only two books, both out of print. But then my eye fell on the words: "From the author..." I did a short but jubilant victory dance and sat down to read her words. I can't tell you how thankful I am to discover that not only is the author (and the character of Naga) alive and well, but also ready to finish the story! Like other reviewers, I have read and re-read Blood Storm and Teot's War. I bought the first book the month it was released and waited in rabid anticipation for the second to come out - two long years. Now it's been a decade and I still never walk into a bookstore without first going past the scifi section and scanning the authors names that end with G... I've bought multiple copies in used book stores (because I couldn't find them elsewhere) and given them out as loaners. I will never willingly part with my own copies! Drin and Naga are magnificently written characters who come alive on paper and live and breathe in the back of your mind long after you close the book. I urge you to buy both these books and settle down for the best read of your life. Even if the final book never comes, it will have been well worth your time. Ms Gladney, thank you for a wonderful and exciting read! Can't wait to see what happens to my two favorite characters in all of scifi.
Rating: Summary: I want my Naga Teot! Review: I, like the other reviewers, bought these books (Teot's War and Blood Storm) when they were first published. I still read them. They are among the few books I keep on my active shelves instead of the attic. A decade has passed and the story is still on my mind. I was overjoyed a couple of years ago when I ran across a note from the author...Teot lives! I keep hoping for the next Naga Teot story...

Rating: Summary: ANTICIPATING HEATHER GLADNEY'S NEXT NAGA TEOT BOOK. Review: JUST AS THE OTHER AMAZON REVIEWERS, I ALSO PERIODICALLY REREAD THE TWO MILITARY FANTASY BOOKS BY HEATHER GLADNEY, TEOT'S WAR AND BLOOD STORM. HER FULLY REALISED UNIVERSE DESCRIBES, IN STUNNING FIRST PERSON NARRATIVE, A NATION WHICH IS UNDER ATTACK BY AN ENEMY WHOSE NUMBERS AND FANATIC THEOLOGY ARE IN DANGER OF WIPING OUT A MONARCHY WHOSE KING IS A RULER THAT IS FOUND ONLY "ONCE IN TEN THOUSAND YEARS." NAGA TEOT, WHOSE NAME MEANS "DANCES WITH KNIVES," IS A REMAINING NOBLE OF A MINORITY RACE, WHO WITH EXTRAORDINARY COURAGE AND A SUPERHUMAN GRASP OF MILITARY STRATEGY, MEETS UP AND SWEARS HIS FEALTY TO THE KING WHOM HE NICKNAMES "DRIN." THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS A FASCINATING STUDY OF A FRIENDSHIP THAT CAN BE BETWEEN TWO MEN, AND BETWEEN A RULER AND HIS KNIGHT. IN A WAY, I THINK THEIR RELATIONSHIP CAN ALSO BE AN ALLEGORY OF THE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GOD AND HIS FOLLOWER. AT THE END OF THE FIRST BOOK, NAGA HAS STIRRED DRIN'S SLEEPY, SEA-SIDE NATION INTO A WAR WITH THE BEHEMOTH, FANATIC ENEMY. A CLASSIC LINE OF DIALOGUE IS WHEN NAGA, RESPONDING TO DRIN'S COMMENT THAT NAGA NOW HAS HIS WAR, SAYS ABSENTLY, "NO, LEIGE, I PRAYED FOR PEACE." I LOOK FORWARD WITH GREAT PLEASURE TO HEATHER GLADNEY'S THIRD BOOK IN THIS SERIES. HER WRITING DESERVES A LARGE AUDIENCE.
Rating: Summary: Heather Gladney must be allowed to write again! Review: Like all the previous reviews I laud the talent that is obviously inherent in Ms. Gladneys writings. I know we all axiously wait to read the next installment in the series and today i was visiting her homepage to see that she has not one but two new books slated for the Teot series. Now that is sometihng to make you skip a beat. I've read and reread her books at least 20 times, frequenting the bookstores to find the second novel when i finished the first. These books are full of every intrigue you could wish, military tactics, political intrigue, religion and the in-depth character make it so alive.I urge all of Ms Gladney's readers to show your support for these phenomenal pieces of work!
