Rating: Summary: Highly Addictive Review: There are some books you just want to read, read, read until you get to the end because they're just that good, this was one of those books. Much like Expendable, this is a first-person yarn, and like any good first-person story it has a narrator that the reader can enjoy listening to for 400+ pages. In this story, our narrator Edward York starts out as a Forrest Gump kind of character, a little slow, but also very disarming because he's so kind and gentle. Slowly York becomes tangled in a huge web of deceit and treachery, but is able to save the day with a little help from his friends. Those friends include old favorites like Phylar Tobit and of course Festina Ramos.Hunted is an exciting, action-packed book with riveting plot twists and great characters. For hardcore SF readers this might not be serious enough or have enough scientific mumbo-jumbo, and maybe some of the plot twists are rather predictable, but this is just an exciting, entertaining read. After reading Expendable and Hunted, I'm definitely going to pick up the rest of Gardner's books in this series, I'd recommend you do the same. Since there are no immortal see-through people and no choppy subheadings, I can feel good about giving this book five stars.
Rating: Summary: I like Physics and bugs Review: This book had no ninjas. Strike One! I tend to like Bikini Carwash movies, and the music of Jim Nabors. Not only did this book not reveal the Venus Butterfly technique as promised, but the inserts which promised to teach you how to defeat the Pie Factory level of Donkey Kong were marginal at best. For my money, it's hard to beat a good Iceberg Slim book and some Kiss and/or Scooby Doo Presto Magix.
Rating: Summary: Roller-coaster ride of Adventure Review: This book was great. Highly individualized characters, in incredible situations, set in a universe with enough background to FEEL like a universe... Very wry, dark humor, too. Lots of craziness. Lots of suspense. Lots of fun.

Rating: Summary: Another good one Review: This is another fun book from Gardner. You can't read his books to critically, because they all have some rather silly plot points, but it's fun to read, it doesn't get bogged down with too many details, and it's a good story. Anyone who liked Vigilant and Expendable will like this one as well.
Rating: Summary: A royal sci fi thriller Review: Twenty years ago, Explorer Edward York and his diplomat sister were stationed on the Mandasar homeworld of Troyen, trying to stop a civil war, but when his sister and the Mandasar queen are murderered, war does break out and Edward barely escapes with his life. Since then, Edward has been kept by the Fleet on an observation post orbiting Troyen. When a ship finally picks Edward up for the trip home, the entire crew are executed for crimes by the fabled League of Peoples, who govern the whole of outer space. Edward finds himself at the heart of a growing conspiracy which threatens his own life as well as the whole of the Mandasar people, and he feels he's in way over his head. Luckily Explorer Festina Ramos arrives, but there are also secrets that Edward is keeping, so maybe getting help to solve this mystery wasn't such a great idea after all. James Alan Gardner's fourth book "Hunted" is one of the best in the series. With compelling characters (including the legendary Ramos) and an engrossing mystery plot, this science fiction story zips through every twist and turn, refusing to let the reader go until the end. And what an end it is!
Rating: Summary: Best Sci-Fi Everyone *Hasn't* Read Review: With science-fiction (or possibly space opera) books as a speciality, this author is not terribly well-known but should be. The Expendables series (of which Hunted is midway in the series) is absolutely joyful to read, with a delicious sense of humor embedded in every chapter. The main character (Edward) is not your typical hero, and the insect-like aliens don't seem unlikely. I certainly enjoyed Edward's open minded attitude and even affection towards his adopted race, even though he doesn't feel he is "smart" enough to look after them. This was a delightful surprise to find and read. You do not have to worry about Garner slapping you with too much technology and not enough characterization and plot.
