Rating: Summary: OUSTANDING! Review: Peter David has done it again! A great mystery, really worth reading. And Constable Odo was a great character throughout the book. I read this book before I ever saw DS9. "The Seige" started me down the road of being an avid fan of DS9, and I can only hope that Peter David will write another book such as this soon! For those who have never read this book: READ IT! YOU'll LOVE IT!
Rating: Summary: Good first effort Review: Taking place a little less than halfway through the first season of the show, The Siege is a strong first original novel in this series. As David explains in the preface, he's going to make a few mistakes, as when he started the book the show was only five episodes old and not everything was that well developed yet.And he was right. Most of the characters did fall a little out of character at times, but just as often they sounded just as they do in the show. There was a bunch of cool action, with shapeshifters beating the heck out of each other, as well as out of others. This book is filled with David's usual Star Trek wit and humor. In fact, my biggest complaint is about that. While there is some good ferengi humor, the author takes a lot of liberties with the ferengi culture and lifestyle, and most of them are dead wrong. This gets to be very annoying with every few pages he talks about "tradition ferengi defensive crouch," "a stance known as the ferengi..." etc. Still, I recommend this book to DS9 fans. This is what the episode "the adversary" should have been. Good work!

Rating: Summary: Great book. Action packed. Review: The book was great. Odo was awesome through out the hole book. As I read the book it kept me interested and I wanted to finish it. I couldn't stop. It was like watching the show on T.V. I can't believe how powerful Jeter wrote it. He is a great writer. He knows how to draw his readers into the book and keep them there. Every page was action packed . There was not a dull moment in the whole book. I wish they could make the book a episode on T.V. Odo was totally awesome
Rating: Summary: It's great. Review: The Siege was an excellent novel, especially considering it's the first original DS9 novel. All right, so characterization and some of the shapeshifting tricks might be a little off, but Peter David didn't have a lot to work with. But the novel keeps your attention, is interesting, and keeps fairly good characterization overall.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time on any TNG books, buy this book! Review: This book was extremely well written, with enough gory descriptions to satisfy even me. The only reason I gave this book a "4" is because the characters are off at some points. I can see it all in my head, except what they say sometimes doesn't fit their character. But all in all, a great book. Thankfully, Deep Space Nine came along to save the Trek franchise from TNG, and later Voyager. And along with it comes a whole new series of books.
Rating: Summary: A great novel, and an even better first original novel! Review: This book would be great enough if it were simply another DSN novel, but this has the distinction of being the first original DSN novel. According to his preface, Peter David had only afew scripts to give him an idea of how to write these characters, and boy, you couldn't tell. This book seems right out of hte series, with a mega-huge special effects budget. This book generates a lot of suspense, and that's dificult with a set universe like Star Trek, or any other universe whose main outlet is a television series. You can't do anything really big, because that must be left to writers of the TV show. So most novels based on TV series are flat, because we know for sure that nothing permanent will happpen to the characters. Even so, Peter David manages to tackle some pretty intense issues in this novel, as well as deliver a wallopping suspense punch that sends you through the nearest bulkhead. I highly recommend this book...and if you've read David's work before and enjoyed it, chances are you've already read this book; but if you haven't, you are in for a wonderful treat.
Rating: Summary: funniest star trek book I've ever read a great family book Review: this is probably the funniest star trek book I've ever read. like when Kira and Odo are "Hatching nifirious plot to find out what the gossip is between starfleet personel," and O'Briens majic trick and why it worked for Quark and not him. not only is it funny though, it also has action in it like the Borg ship coming through the worm whole and the people getting killed by the other Changeling. I don't want to give away the ending but the book is fun, funny, full of action, and a great book for the family
Rating: Summary: This book was awesome!! Buy it! Buy it! Buy it! Review: This was an incredibly entertaining read! Peter David expands his masterful Star Trek storytelling abilities to the Deep Space Nine universe, and the result is a powerful, suspenseful story with a touch of the trademark David humor. Having everyone join forces to stop a psycho killer is a nice break from the usual political tension between the Bajorans, Cardassians, etc. The ending is brilliant! In the unlikely event they ever make a Deep Space Nine movie, they should base it on this book!
Rating: Summary: He can do Deep Space Nine too!!!! Review: When DS9 first premiered I was skeptical. The humans are the aliens? Yeah, right. But then I picked up this book and everything sounded so great I couldn't hold myself back from the show. This is the first original Deep Space Nine books so naturally somethings are a little off (Odo shape shifts into Quark and other humanoid forms, a task which he cannot do in the series). Another reviewer gave this book four stars because of the lack of accuracy, and I almost agreed with that reviewer but one has to realize that David wrote this book with almost nothing to go on. When it was written there had only been one episode of DS9! As I write this there are only a few more weeks of DS9 left, pick this book along with Fallen Heroes to continue the saga!
