Talvalin is swept into the political intrigue of a neighboring and unfriendly country at the behest of his king and his foster father, a mysterious wizard with secrets of his own.

The Talvalin books are a compelling mixture of differing cultures, both European and Asian in nature. Swordplay, wizardy and honor all play vital roles as the story unfolds. Excellent depictions of sword-work and the well-written exploration of the inner thoughts of a young man bent on an almost suicidal quest to avenge the death of his family make the Talvalin books hard to put down.
