Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Precursor to Oblivion?
Review: Probably not, but by the ending of this book you would think it is. The story continued from 'Stranger Souls' is great, and includes something not found in most of the Shadowrun novels; soul-searching. Almost all of the main characters must undergo some type of search for their true feelings, and the Aztlaner burnout-mage Oscuro is using faces a crucial conflict in herself that is unseen in any other Shadowrun novel. The action scenes are still intense, especially the conflict between Ryan and Burnout in Dunkelzahn's Georgetown mansion. The cameo by Damien Knight is a nice touch, and explains some event revealed back in 'Portfolio of a Dragon'. The character is one of the most interesting in the two books. The ending of the book is a cliffhanger, but it sets up for what looks to be an incredible conclusion.
