Summary: Great work
Review: I love this book, not because I find the plot intriguing, not because it presents a provoking thought on human religion, and not because it's science fiction. There're too much of those good stuffs in other books too.

I love it simply because it's beautiful. It makes us yearn for that human passion in unity, described by Wyndham as the children's telephatic ability, which actually is a human ideal. It successfully blends fear, tragic and hope into a memorable story, with fear and tragic finally fading away under the wings of hope.

It you haven't pick this book up yet, my advice is don't miss it for anything...

Summary: Stayed up all night reading it.
Review: Very rarely does a book so captivate me that I simply can do nothing else but read it. John Wyndham's sci-fi classic is one of the select few to have accomplished this. But what's with the cover?! My book has a big green alien of the front! The whole time I was reading the book, I was thinking: "Hmm, I wonder when the aliens are going to show up...". When I finished reading the last word on the last page, I couldn't help but swear out loud. Not because I really wanted an alien invasion, but because the cover had absolutely nothing to do with the novel! It distracted me from the story, because anytime anything happened, instead of just accepting it as is, I'd try and figure out how the event would lead to the appearance of a big green alien! Ah well, there's my rant. But as was said above, it is an outstanding work of literature, complete with an involving story and intriguing themes. Just try not to look at the cover.

Summary: English Assignment Gone Wrong!!!
Review: Our class had to do "The Chrysalids" for an English Assignment. It was very confusing, and should not be given to grade 9 students. I mean, he falls in love with his cousin, that's really sick. Anyways. if you're a teacher don't make your students read it.

Summary: Very Good Science Fiction
Review: I guess the lesson to be learned from reading all these reviews is to wait until you are an adult to read this book. It's well written and thought provoking; stick with Star Wars and Dragon Lance until you grow up enough to enjoy it.

Summary: OKAY
Review: I believe that The Chrysalids is an interesting book proposed to kids our age (14-16). It offers strong and complicating emotions; however many teens will not b able to completly understand this book. UNLESS YOU ARE A SCI-FI FAN DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BOOK !

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A thought provoking read
Review: I also had to read this book in high school, but I don't have a personal copy. (I'm going to get one thanks to Amazon). I look forward to reading it again.

Summary: I was forced to read this book
Review: my english class an i had to read this book ! the only interesting part is that David is in love with his cousin! haven't teachers ever heard about child abuse? i would give this book 0 stars if it were an option ! *IF YOU ARE A TEACHER THINKING OF ASSIGNING THIS BOOK PLEASE THINK AGAIN*

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Well-written, thought-provoking, Classic Science Fiction
Review: I picked this up having no idea what it was about. I was first impressed by Wyndham's clear, straightforward style. Then, the story took me over. By today's standards, the plot is pretty standard stuff. But Wyndham does a nice exploration of the issues of "social deviance", dogmatic religion, and the implications of human evolution. I will definitely be reading more of Wyndham!
