Rating: Summary: An entertaining action and suspense novel Review: Cole Egan, a bond trader in New York, obtains a videotape of John F. Kennedy's assassination. The tape provides evidence that the shooting was conspiratorial. A continuing conspiracy to suppress the tape involves the President, a Mafia chief, and intelligence agencies. And there are those who would pay large sums of money to acquire and then make public the tape. Cole finds himself in a life or death struggle to survive and to benefit financially. The many characters in the book are believable. The plot, and many sub-plots, are complex but are easy to follow, thanks to the writing skills of the author.
Rating: Summary: Someone on the Grassy Knoll.... Review: Cole Egan, a bond trader in New York, obtains a videotape of John F. Kennedy's assassination. This tape proves the second gunman theory is true. The real story is about the various forces that want to keep this information from the pubic. Many of the reviewers wish it would delve into the assassination plot, but that is not the author's plot. In Cole, we have a vulnerable character that has had an unusual past and uncertain future. He is added and deterred by many well-constructed character throughout the story. The story is fast paced and would make a great movie. The only drawback is the sappy ending.
Rating: Summary: Loaded With Twists and Turns Review: Cole Egan, a struggling Wall Street broker all of a sudden inherits something that will end all his financial woes. The catch? What he inherits is a tape shot in Dealy Plaza the day Kennedy was shot, clearly showing a second gunman behind the grassy knoll. Of course anyone still alive, that may have had a hand in the Kennedy assassination, wants this tape destroyed and the bearer of the tape permanently silenced. Thus the tale unfolds loaded with chases, intrigue, double crossings, and rescues in the nick of time.Frey successfully makes the transition to espionage thriller from his earlier Wall Street/finance thrillers. Though Cole is a stock broker, very little of the story involves investing as Freys The Takeover and The Vulture Fund. As the story unfolds we find that Cole is a loner who did not know his mother and barely had anything to do with his father, while he was raised by his aunt and uncle. He is an interesting personality and during the course of the novel he is paired with the pure Nicky from his hometown and Tori, who had a similar upbringing as Cole. Tori is the more interesting of the two as her goal is to make her mother notice her for who she is. This means that she must do things on her own and win acclaim on her own merit. We also have Bennett Smith, who seems to get to the right place at the right time to get Cole out of jams. As the book unfolds, Smith seems to be the most interesting character. The books main credo throughout seems to be trust no one. The book is definitely one to take with you for that long plane ride.

Rating: Summary: How does this stuff get into print? Review: Come on. We (book buyers) aren't all a bunch of morons. How this book got agented, shopped, published, reviewed placed, and is probably a better story. Really. It was poorly written and badyly edited and I want my money back. Period.
Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY OR READ THIS BOOK Review: Do not read this book, unless you like a diet of dog food. Frey's standard fare of horrific plots and stupid twists continue. Save your $17.
Rating: Summary: Frey is becoming like Grisham (and that's not a good thing) Review: Frey is starting to crank out books too quickly like Grisham has done. The Legacy was somewhat entertaining, but there wasn't any depth to it. He needs to slow down and take his time with his next book. His "The Takeover" was great, but he's been slowly going downhill ever since.
Rating: Summary: big mistake Review: I dont really like Stephen Frey but decided to give this book a chance because the plot sounded interesting. BIG MISTAKE. Frey totally botched this one. How come all of his characters have to be gorgeous? The man has no range as a writer. I got about 150 pages into this book and ended up tearing it apart page by page in a fit of rage at my stupidity for believing Frey could put out anything that might actually be interesting and thoughtful.
Rating: Summary: Fast-Paced Review: I had trouble putting this book down. It seemed like just when you couldn't imagine another plot twist, one would appear. The idea for the book is superb and I feel that Frey did this one justice.
Rating: Summary: almost as good as The Takeover Review: I have enjoyed all of Mr. Frey's books and was not disappointed by The Legacy. I thought it was a nice change that while the book was about a Wall Street trader, the whole story did not revolve around the world of Wall Street. It went in a different direction, which was unexpected and showed Mr. Frey is talented in writing about subjects other than the financial world. I think the Kennedy Assasination is still fascinating to most people, including those like me who weren't even born yet when it happened. I thoroughly enjoyed all of Mr. Frey's novels and look forward to his next.
