Rating: Summary: Dack Shannon: An albino nightmare, for the bad guys. Review: Dack Shannon is one bad dude. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The pages drip with menace and the action scenes are wild, loose and crazy with a capital C. I read that other review with the 1 star and couldn't beieve that guy. Me must have a personal ax to grind. Hey, if you don't like horror fiction why read horror fiction??? The Dack Shannon stories are a very good blend of detective, noir and horror. If you seek the dark in your reading check this book out. Of course also check out my book. Blood And Rain as John Dark. But that's another tale. Long live Dack!!!
Rating: Summary: Grim, great, ghostly! Review: Dack Shannon, grim albino warrior from Majestic agency, dammit, he is cool. I found this book a great read and will recommend all my buds get it. Shrewsbury writes in a thudding way, striking at the heart and brain at times. Super cool pulp fiction. This ain't high art, but it never pretends to be. "Bliss" is a neat story where Dack takes down some goths. "Destroyer" about a weird Congressman blackmailed by Dack is great, too. My favorite story is "Patterns of Oblivion" because of the mystery elements. I hope to see more of Dack in the future.
Rating: Summary: Wicked cool Review: Dack Shannon, violent, creepy, and rash, I love him! He does what the law can't. He kills the bad guys. The stories are damn good and well thought out. It is great escapism. I want to read more!
Rating: Summary: Fast paced, super page turner! Review: Dark, moving, scary, freaky, all words that describe this super trip through the Majestic universe of Steven L. Shrewsbury. Anyone who hasn't got this one is missing out. From the shadowy albino agent Dack himself, to his firebrand assistant, Brittany, we are treated to a super ride through chilling tales. Mystery, sci-fi, horror and things that go BUMP frolic here.
Rating: Summary: Enthralling Review: Even though i'm not a huge fan of the genre type that this book is uaully considered, i love these stories for their style and pure primal grace that comes through them. They are a reflection of how humanity's minds work, in the way the characters act and live, and the voice that comes through the writing is superb. I greatly reccomend these tales to anybody who wants an engrossing peice of fiction.
Rating: Summary: A treat for Dack Shannon fans Review: Having followed the Dack Shannon series over the last few years, I've come to revere the consistent quality and quantity of Mr. Shrewsbury's short fiction. As such, I was quite delighted when Nocturnal Vacations was announced, especially since many of the included stories have appeared in online-only venues.Until now, that is. Publish America has done a wonderful job of bringing Dack from the computer screen to the printed page. All the familiar characters are there, and the overall packaging is top-notch. If you're a fan of the Dack mythology, there is no finer collector's item than Nocturnal Vacations.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Adventures Review: I have been a fan of Dack Shannon since I began reading Steven Shrewsbury's work online over a year ago. The stories are original, suspenseful and well-written. Dack's flawed, but heroic, character makes him even more compelling. Steven L. Shewsbury is one of the great news talents in the horror field, a writer with unlimited imagination and a sure grasp of his craft. His fiction is exciting and filled with non-stop action and I am pleased to see these stories collected in a print anthology. Two thumbs up for Nocturnal Vacations!
Rating: Summary: Dack and Shrews a Classic Duo Review: I have been a reader of Steven Shrewsberry's work for a little over a year now. His work is crisp, clean and very well drawn out. In fact, I believe him to be one of the better up-and-coming author's of his/our generation. Dack Shannon is unique, driven showcase of stories that will certainly please any true coinsurer of rare, bold literature. open the cover for yourself ... don't think you will be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Dack Rawks! Review: I never thought this book would be this cool. Dack Shannon, albino agent, RAWKS! That sounds silly, but with every story in this collection, another layer of Dack's persona peels back. Cruel, cold, funny and flawed: That's Dack. Oh, he is a killer with twisted morals, but only the bad guys or gals get it. Shrewsbury has created a stable of interesting characters with unusual personalities. From Father Malachi, to Thor, to red hot redhead Brittany, they are very amusing. By the novella at the end, I was used to the characters and engrossed. I am eager to read more about Dack Shannon.
Rating: Summary: Good collection Review: I really enjoyed this collection of violent mystery tales. I really never read anything quite like it before. It surprised me and let my jaw drop a few times. Good. Looking forward to another story about this character. Dack Shannon is an excellent anti-hero for a new century.
