Rating: Summary: A Lucky Find Review: A few years ago I wandered into my local newsagent to buy a paper, and thought I'd check out their bookshelf. A book caught my eye for the simple reason of its having a yellow cover. I picked it up, read the blurb on the back, and figured I may as well buy it. Well, I was hooked within two paragraphs! This book has every thing-- love, hate, gods, monstrous evil, sacrifice, redempton, miracles. Sheri S. Tepper writes a prose so lovely it can make you cry, her characters are 'real' people.... in fact, the only complaint I have is that her books come to an end. But then even the endings are satisfying, so what can I do but go and buy another? Read "Raising The Stones", read anything that has Sheri S. Tepper's name on the cover!
Rating: Summary: What would happen if there were a "God" that really worked? Review: A great story that toys with the ideas of religion and personal freedom.
Rating: Summary: The most-read, most-borrowed book in our library - stunning! Review: Another world, another culture, and how 'we' subconsciously view the cute little natives and well-meaningly interfere with their 'barbaric' customs. Ms Tepper REALLY makes you reflect on how YOU live, how YOU think and how would YOU fare in a situation like this. Each book is mind-expanding in a different way - how does she do it? More please!!!
Rating: Summary: Catch the Non-Violence Virus Review: How would the world react if it were in danger of losing the will to dominate? Tepper has woven a tale about a universe filled with unfeeling dominators into which an alien lifeform is injected which makes antagonism impossible. Of course, as the lifeform begins to spread, the bosses don't like it.
Well-written and suspenseful. This should have become a classic
Rating: Summary: My favourite book - one I recommend to friends Review: If you enjoy Sheri Tepper's work, you should love this book. It deals with religion in an educated, yet satirical manner. An excellent read, and quite uplifting. I lend it out so often I live in fear of losing track of my copy.
Rating: Summary: One of Tepper's best! Review: Intriguing characters set in a complex and varied world, a common problem, a set of unlikely allies who can arouse our empathy. I truly enjoyed reading this Tepper novel, not something I can say for much of her work. I really wanted to turn the pages and I was left wanting more at the end.

Rating: Summary: I cannot believe this is out of print Review: One of Ms. Tepper's best. If you can find a copy, snap it up and treasure it always.
