Summary: what a waste of money
Review: I was looking for a book that would give me an insight into mormonism - this is just not that - it is just a sad persons view
that tries to dismantle something the author simply does not understand. I suggest that this is not the book you are looking for.

Summary: What a poor perspective of Mormonism!
Review: I'd give this book -2 stars if I could. This is a very poor book written with the author's biased view of Mormonism. If you're looking for an accurate and factual book on Mormonism, I suggest you not waste your money (and time) on this book.

Summary: A pity it wasn't longer
Review: if you like dune you will probably enjoy this. it is a great pity that it isn't much , much longer. i think fh had the chance of another epic but decided to leave it at that. as is usual in a fh book he gives us a view of modern day life seen either in the future or in an alternative reality. again he uses arab/islamic references in his book, and his hero is both intelligent and amusing. a good read at any time.

Summary: book explores the truth ?
Review: It seems that some of the reviews here are by people who are opposed to freedom of speech and do not want to have a person write his thoughts or express ones creativity.

I was born a Christian and chose Judaism, I chose to write, I chose to be an independent thinker. I choose to read and gain knowledge of what others are thinking and what makes them tick.

The author of this book has penned his words for you to read and in an elowuent way. Others who have not read the book should not judge the content without being informed.

This book has nothing to do with LDS-Mormon Church of Jesus Chris and latter Day saints or whatever they are calling themselves now. It has to do with the author, his writings and his truth.

I have read books like "The Book Of Mormon and Joseph Smith, The Scientist and other shallow writings such as those. they to me are fiction and I accept them as that. I believe LDS is a cult , as Mormons believe that God gave them the priesthood and have baptized dead holocaust Jews into Mormonish against the families will.

The book should be read if you incline to know this writers thoughts. I do not make my final choice based on the opinions of a Rabbi, Priest or religious of government head

Summary: To clear up the confusion
Review: Some are confuded about the references some of these reveiws have to Mormonism. This book does not discuss Mormonism, the book that they are refering to is a book by Ed Decker and Dave Hunt which has the same title.

Summary: The Godmakers
Review: The grand drawn-out scale to Herbert's novels are daunting. New civilizations take birth that challenge us and our definitions of absolutes. The engine of his novels is a network of politics for a power struggle. In the Godmakers a man is pushed to his limits and forced to take a larger part into something he knew nothing about. In most of his novels religion is used as a toy to manipulate (or subue) a race or class of people. But religion is also a connector to the feats of human possiblity which Herbert dreampt up. The book is not as damanding for our attention as the Dune series. It is a more casual and relaxed Herbert telling a simpler and tight story.

Summary: AN excellent read
Review: This book is a captivating read from one of science fictions masters. It intermingles religious and social philosophies from a post apocolyptic intergalatic war. The idea that Gods are made not born and the ominous consequences of making. It question good and bad at a very base level.

Summary: Prepare to test your faith!!
Review: This book will absolutely test the faith of any Mormon out there. If you are not grounded solidly in the Mormon church, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. The authors have been there, done that, so to speak, with the Mormon church. Now they unveil a whole new outlook about it that will infuriate the Latter Day Saints, and add fuel to the fire of other Christians wanting to disprove the validity of the Mormons. Whichever side you're on, this book will stir your emotions, and jumpstart your brain into a way of thinking like never before.

Summary: A "good-little-book"
Review: While nowhere as deep and philosophical as his DUNE series, this book presents an interesting premise: Gods are Made, not Born. Set in a universe where human civilization has fallen back to a handfull of worlds after a devestating war, explorers are sent out to "re-discover" populated planets, judging them for furthur contact based on their militarism. Behind the scenes, a psuedo-religious-telepathic Church engineers the creation of "Gods" out of men. An interesting look at how primative a "modern" society can be, and an unassuming hero, who's a hero through and through.
