Summary: Battlestar Galactica - A Real SURVIVOR
Review: I think Richard Hatch from Survivor wrote this book! It was written as if by someone who had very little knowledge of these characters and previous situations.
Throughout the book I kept wondering why I was continuing to read it. I guess I secretly hoped it would have some magically great payoff. The disappointment only grew worse!
If you look forward to reading the conclusion of the new trilogy, do not buy this book. Think up a good outcome and live with that...!

Summary: What Happened to The Good Stories from Before?!
Review: I was an original fan of the TV show, and was excited that one of the stars, Richard Hatch, started writing stories. I was glad that the same characters were there in the first book and liked the new ones introduced. I had hoped, in the TV show, that Apollo and Sheba would get together, so was glad that he had kept them together. I was also glad that he gave Athena a stronger role--so, I greatly enjoyed the first book and eagerly looked for the second book. The 2nd one was o.k., not as good as the first, but I hoped the 3rd book would get better, like the 1st one. So, when it finally came out, I bought the hardback edition so I could finally read it--but was greatly disappointed!! Other reviewers have pointed out the large number of gramatical mistakes. I couldn't believe that he broke up Apollo and Sheba just like that after a long relationship and then went on to Cassopeia!? And the character of Cain was an insult to the TV character and the actor! I'm very sorry I spent so much money on the book. When the next one comes out, if I even want to read it, I'll check it out from a library! Sorry Richard Hatch, but you're not it the league of Sci-Fi story tellers like Gene Rodenberry, George Lucas or Steven Speilberg!

Summary: SAVE YOURSELF!!!!!!
Review: I'm most of the way through this book and HAD to write a review, if only for the public good.

I have read (and own) the first two Battlestar Galactica books; I enjoyed them and thought they were good. Good enough that when I saw THIS one out, I snapped it up. Mistake.

This book is NOT co-authored with Christopher Golden and it shows. The voice between books doesn't even sound the same. Titles that characters had in the previous books are rarely (if ever) used. Characters that were NEVER on the bridge in the previous two books are suddenly back to their old positions. Close relationships that existed between characters in earlier books are not even MENTIONED in this book.

It has NUMEROUS misspelled words, words run together and sometimes...words just left out. It often goes into completely different scenes without even the courtesy of a dividing line between paragraphs. I've had to back up several times and just...try to figure out what was going on. What I'm saying is this: the stuff that spellchecker and FIRST YEAR editors would catch are MISSED here.

It feels like Richard Hatch just found some kid on the Internet who LOVES Battlestar Galactica and paid him some ridiculous sum of money to write the next installment of the series the way that the kid thought it should go. Then Richard got it from him and didn't even bother to READ IT before sending if off to his publisher.

No, that's not necessarily true. I can tell when different people are writing different sections of the book. Some sections are eloquent and almost poetic. Others are...literal with almost no description accompanying it.

It's like really bad fanfiction.

I suppose I wouldn't be so irritated if I hadn't paid the full hardback price for it. My advice is: if you want to read this book, borrow it from the library. Or if you MUST own it, wait till it comes out in paperback.

Summary: Ok, But Not Great
Review: If you like BG and know the story you'll probably enjoy the book.

Overall I liked the story and the writing. It was great to read about these great characters again. The story is true to the original.

My only complaint is that I have always detested the 'spiritual', glowing beings of light arc in the BG story line. This detracts from what could have been a stronger story.

Otherwise a good read for BG fans.

Summary: the same thrills we all remember
Review: If you love the old Galactica then you'll love this new adventure that continues the WARHAWK saga. Fun for us Hatch-addicts!

Summary: Off Par
Review: Like many I anticpated this book. When I got it I was disappointed. I looked and found some answers. Richard Hatch had conflicts with the publisher over the third book. The story that they decided to publish was a rough draft, not a polished version. (As many of us can tell) In a posted interview he stated how disappointed he was with the book. I must agree, the book screams "unfinished". I hope his next one is better. I know it has been out for a while, but I am hesitant.

Summary: the epic journey continues with book 3
Review: Looks like I lucked out:
1) I was able to find a copy of this hard to get book.
2) My copy of this one is a paperback (It has none of the flaws that the hardback is said to have had).
3) I loved it!
I read Armageddon and Warhawk. They both entertained me big time!
Resurrection was tough to find but I managed to get it used. It's the revised paperback. It rocks!
There's a change in authors but no change in story quality between book 2 and 3.
The paperback would really seem to be better than the first printing version. Grade: A+

Summary: A new direction for Battlestar Galactica
Review: Okay Here we go - The Colonial Fleet is on the verge of being annahilated by the Cylons. Apollo who directed the fleet to go to the planet Kirasolia after the events in Warhawk has his fleet use the advanced QSE technology to escape destruction. The Colonials return to the planet Kobol and learn some very important lessons one being sometimes you have to go back in order to go forward. Richard Hatch and Stan Timmons take the legend to new levels and in new directions. Apollo goes head to head with "The Legendary" Commander Cain when Cain challenges Apollo for leadership of the fleet. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are other twists and surprises that make this book a good read.

Summary: five stars
Review: Over the past few months I have begun watching the Battlestar Galactica televison program for the first time. I was never much of a science fiction fan and had limited access to televison while growing up. I didn't see the Battlestar Galactica televison series until my husband purchased the complete series on DVD.

I became an instant fan after Saga of a Star World. I then began reading my husbands collection of Battlestar Galactica books by Richard Hatch. Both the books and the series have flaws (what doesn't?), but they also have wonderful characters, heart, imagination, and warmth. There's a special charm to Battlestar Galactica. Watching the episodes and reading the books has been five star experience for me.
