Rating: Summary: The BEST book I've ever read is Gravity. Review: Gravity captured me with the opening lines and I could not tear myself away. I read it twice in a row, something rare for me. I couldn't believe it, and yet I was drawn to it as a possiblity. Perhaps it is my love of science, technology, and my constant fascination with space exploration, but whatever the reason, this quickly became a favorite.
Rating: Summary: GERRITSEN IS A MASTER OF MEDICAL THRILLERS Review: While the subject topic, space travel, is not on the top of my list, I was immediately engrossed by the lastest book by this gifted author. I have only read one other of Gerritsen's books, Bloodstream, and this one is just as good. She doesn't seem to disappoint her readers. She does an enormous amount of research with each book and it shows. I had no idea how much money companies are willing to pay to get their experiments included on these space shuttles. Unfortunately in this book, it is an experiment gone bad. This work is replete with a rescue mission, payload experiments, scary viruses and even a love story. If you like medical thrillers, add this one to your list.
Rating: Summary: Put this one on your list! Review: Wow! I'm exhausted. I stayed up till 1:00 reading, trying to finished this book.I really could not put it down. The begining is slow but the rest of the book more than makes up for it.
Rating: Summary: Where will she go from here? Review: Tess Gerritsen just tells better stories with each book. This one is the topper so far. With research into the NASA program added to her own knowledge of medicine, this book rings as true science fiction--fiction based on science. My question is when do we get the sequel?
Rating: Summary: Great Space Thriller Review: This is quite possibly the best book I've ever read. It had the perfect blend of biomedical and space exploration details and a love story to boot. I felt that this work of fiction was actually very believeable since the author backed it up with actual real-life details. Adding in historical details about the space program was a great change from the usual sci-fi type fiction. I was constantly surprised that the plot kept getting more intense and that the ending gave me a big smile. This would be one of the best space adventure/thriller movies ever!
Rating: Summary: Great Book, must read Review: This book was excellent..i finished it in a day for i could not put it down. i do agree though with some of the other reviews..more character development. there was more of a description of the minor characters, for example Diana, than the main ones. the ideas were great and the gorry descriptions were well, vivid. i am not grossed out by that, but i am sure many people would be. extremely far-fetched and i really wish i knew how jack and emma got home! i also thought it was funny how jack was always there when he was not even part of the mission. but overall, it was a very good book and as stephen king said, you will be up all night
Rating: Summary: Excellent space-medical thriller. Hard to put down. Review: This book is a terrific read. There are many plot surprises throughout. It's easy to read but hard to put down. My only negative is that some sections dealing with extremely gory graphic medical details were a lot too much, so I skipped those paragraphs. For readers of sci-fi, medical stories, and mysteries, this book is a delight.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I thoroughly enjoyed Tess' first few medical thrillers, but I lost enthusiasm for this book about halfway through. It was too predictable. There were entire scenes which could have been tossed out, like having both the USAMRIID people AND the heroes discover that the creature's DNA includes strands from three species. And the "required" Hollywood scene of the hero losing patience with the Army guy and attacking him, making the Army guy cave. At times I felt I was reading a screenplay for another hackneyed alien-invader story. And this is one had a premise I was very excited about reading, too. Less jargon (all right already, you did your research--yawn) and more emphasis on characterization so I CARED what happened to these people would have greatly improved this read.
Rating: Summary: Gravity-Lookout Palmer,Crichton and Cussler Review: I've read the other three books by Gerritsen;each of which was a page-turner,but this was the most exciting page-turner I've read! From page one to the last the story kept moving, holding one's interest and curiosity to keep on reading. At one point the story becomes so exciting and action-packed, I had to put the book down for the day. A "must read" for anyone into medical thrillers. So,when's the next one? I hope in the near future.
Rating: Summary: Just try to defy 'Gravity'! Review: I just happened to pick this book up because I loved the cover. It also happened to have a blurb by my favorite author, Stephen King, across the front and I quote, "She is better than Palmer, better than Cook...yes, even better than Crichton." That's a pretty high recommendation, so those 2 factors encouraged me to read this book and boy, does it live up to the potential! Emma Watson, a brilliant research physician, has been training for the mission of a lifetime: studying life in outer space. Emma's ex-husband, Jack McCallum, has also shared her dream of space travel, but a unforeseen medical condition leaves him grounded and very bitter. He must watch Emma take the chance of a lifetime and watch her go into space without him. Once Emma reaches the space station, however, things begin to go wrong. An experiment runs deadly, stranding Emma aboard the station with no way to get home without threatening the Earth's population. The rescue attempts have all but failed, and one by one the astronants are dying...what happens next will amaze you! This is a fabulous read, nice and easy, but yet, keeps you on the edge of your seat. After reading Gravity, I went back and read Tess Gerritsen's other books. You will too, and you won't be disappointed
