Rating: Summary: how much was king paid to endorse this ( )? Review: hollow, stereotypical people populate this horrible book. this book makes "independance day" seem packed with verisimilitude. if you like medical books written well, try richard preston.
Rating: Summary: Heroes And Suspense Review: I wasn't too sure about the space aspect of this mystery. I like movies about outer space, but books in this genre usually bore me cross-eyed. What a nice surprise this book turned out to be. The space/medical/mystery combination works very well. A stunning beginning leads, eventually, to a heart-stopping ending. There were a few flat spots about halfway through, but the pace soon picked up again. The heroics in this story had me in tears. A very involving read.
Rating: Summary: Amazing! Review: This book will amaze you. It will suck you in and not let go until the final sentence. "Gravity" is the best horror/suspense book that I have read yet. My brother introduced me to this treasure and since then, we have passed it on to every member of our family. He told me to "call me when you get to THE part." By that, he meant a very gruesome scene in the book. WARNING: There are several very gruesome scenes in this book! (You will never sleep with your mouth open again.)
Rating: Summary: The Right Stuff meets The Andromeda Strain Review: As noted in the Editorial Reviews, this novel revolves around Emma Watson, a physician-astronaut, and her soon-to-be ex-husband Jack McCallum, an ER physician. Jack is an ex-astronaut, quitting NASA after being involuntarily grounded due to kidney stones. Emma gets to realize her dream of being assigned to the International Space Station where many biomedical experiments are being performed. Among these experiments is a supposedly harmless exotic cell culture obtained from the deep sea. One of the astronaut-scientists becomes accidentally infected, and all hell breaks loose as the organism mutates and begins to infect the entire crew with lethal results. The space station is quarantined, Emma's infection worsens, and Jack is virtually helpless as time begins to run out. Ms. Gerritsen is obviously an admirer of NASA and the space program, and one gets the sense that this novel is her tribute to the astronauts and all of the people who have contributed to making spaceflight possible (see book dedication). As a baby boomer who closely followed the Apollo program I share her enthusiasm, but this book is definitely a departure from her earlier works. The basic plot has been done before (e.g. Alien; The Thing), and I felt that this story was more predictable than those in her other novels. Will those divorce papers ever get signed? Will Emma be saved? Will Jack and Emma reconcile? No surprises here. I also thought that there was less characterization as well. Jack and Emma aren't as memorable as the Russian boy from Harvest or the prostitute from Life Support. Acronyms abound in this book. They didn't bother me since I was already familiar with most of them, but others have mentioned them as a source of irritation. There is a glossary included to ease the pain. In conclusion, if you are a fan of the space program or want to know more about NASA or the space shuttle then you will probably like this novel. If you are not interested in these things then wait for Ms. Gerritsen to return to small town conspiracies. If this is your first Tess Gerritsen novel you owe it to yourself to read her previous books. I give this book 4 stars because I know that the author can do better.
Rating: Summary: You CAN judge this book by its cover! Review: I'm one of those people who picked up this book because it just had too cool of a cover to pass up (that, and I'm a Robin Cook fan, so I was challenging King's cover quote). So, is Tess Gerritsen better than Cook? Hard to say; can't really compare the two. Tess leans more towards the sci-fi, while Cook sticks to terrestrial diseases. But, that doesn't make Gravity any less thrilling! This is one of the few books to actually give me the chills! Strong characters, vivid and graphic pictures of what exactly the crew members of the ISS are facing combined with superb research and writing skills make Gerritsen an author I'll be returning too. I eagerly look forward to reading her other books! Gravity is a roller-coaster of a read and one you won't soon forget.
Rating: Summary: What a Page Turner! Review: A co-worker recommended this author to me and boy am I glad! This is a medical/space/thriller without compare. There was a point in the middle where I couldn't read fast enough, my heart was pounding and I had to stop and take a deep breath! I would recommend this anyone!

Rating: Summary: Gravity Review: Tess Gerritsen is a genius! What could have been a complicated and boring book turned out to be one of the best books I have ever read. It is a page turner and is filled with suspense. I would recommend this book to anyone!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: I've always loved Garritson's thrillers, but this was by far the best.I could almost see the scenes, she describes them so well. Ms. Garritson really knows how to capture an audience and never let them go....
