Rating: Summary: Intense Review: Great book. Every single word makes it more and more interesting, and adds up to the suspense. I started reading it at 9 in the morning and couldn't put it down till i was done.
Rating: Summary: entertaining, thought provoking Review: The abridged audio version was fun and entertaining. The reader had a clear, engaging voice and was able to develop a sense of drama without being melodramatic. The medical aspects of the book were interesting and added to the realism of the situations. I kept visualizing how a screenplay of the story would look because the descriptions were good at setting the stage. I really enjoyed this.
Rating: Summary: One of the Most Terrifying Reads Around Review: I found this book terrifying because it could happen. Astronauts trapped in a space station with a life form that is neither bacterial or animal that can enter any orifice of the human body. The creature literally disolves it's human host from the inside over a period of a few days in some of the most gruesomely graphic scenes I have ever read. The astronauts know that they will not be allowed to return to earth and that each will shortly succumb to the same terrifying demise. I found the creatures a lot more terrifying than the ones from the Aliens series because those could be fought with bullets and whatever weapons were at hand. This creature assumes the DNA value of its host so in effect becomes immune to antibiotics and any other drug that might poison it (anything strong enough to kill it would kill the host too). Also this creature can move like the Blob, just oozing along to enter the ears or eyes of its victims. As a sideline we have a relationship of a soon to be divorced married couple (like Bruce Willis and his enstranged wife in Die Hard), who basically still love each other but because of their careers have grown cold to each other. Even though they have limited interaction during the book, they still seem to transmit their still loving feelings to each other. Then we have the Air Force trying to cover everything up in the name of national security. I truly could not put this book down and even though I found it to be terrifying it was compelling at the same time. This is definately one to take along for a long plane ride.
Rating: Summary: What a find. Review: This is the first book I've read by Tess Gerritsen and what a pleasant surprise. Gravity was not only an exciting concept but also believable. I hope it never happens. I will shortly order another of her books. Gravity was excellent.
Rating: Summary: Please don't bite your nails Review: You wouldn't want an extraterrestrial virus that self-adapts by destroying other animal life (including humans) and feasting on the host DNA to get all over your fingernails, now would you? Hmmm? This was a marvelous book. It keeps you guessing. It's realistic. The characters are people you really care about. I don't give high marks to most books (being a writer myself, I tend to be hypercritical) but this one's a pure winner.
Rating: Summary: High Tech Thriller Review: I really enjoyed GRAVITY. The action began early and never stopped, and the plot took many an interesting turn. This was my first Gerritsen read, and I hope to discover more of her treasures.
Rating: Summary: A BIG PAGE-TURNER Review: Let me just impress upon you...This book will hook you from the very beginning. I wasn't sure about this book; I had never read Gerritsen before. How believable could this be? How could anybody write this realistically? Well, Gerritsen has done it! I have spent the past two days totally engrossed in this book. It is logical and very suspenseful. If you liked the Hot Zone and enjoy science, pick this one up.
Rating: Summary: Andromeda Strain Revisited Review: Was I the only one to feel that this was just a re-working of The Andromeda Strain, another Sci-Fi thriller written by a physician? It was good enough to pass the 3 1/2 hours that it took me to get home from Oregon, but I wouldn't have chosen it if the airport book shop had given me a better choice.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: Another great medical thriller by Tess Gerritsen! When you're finished, think back to the parallels between this plot and that of the first book (Andromeda Strain) by another MD -- Michael Crichton.
Rating: Summary: Look out Robin Cook! Review: My husband picked this book up at the drugstore for me when I was sick in bed with a cold. I couldn't stop thanking him! I love medical thrillers and enjoy movies that take place in outer space. This book has two of my favorites rolled into one. This book is fast paced and exciting with no dull spots. I definately rate this book as a "can't put it down" read. I am looking forward to reading the other books the author has out.
