Summary: Stuck in Space with Nowhere to Go
Review: Because of a tragic accident research physician Emma Watson suddenly gets a ride on the space shuttle up to the International Space Station. The ISS took five years to build and is twice as long as a football field and Emma is thrilled at the prospect of studying living creatures in space, however she's not thrilled about leaving without settling all of the issues concerning her impending divorce between her and physician husband Jack McCallum.

One of the astronauts aboard ISS takes sick and is returned to earth via the space shuttle, however the shuttle crashes, the astronauts are dead and now the military takes over and the cause is hushed up by.

Meanwhile back on the space station Emma suspects a problem that is soon confirmed by the sudden illness of first one astronaut, then another. Racing against time to find the cause, she soon discovers that they are stranded in space. The government won't risk their return to earth as long as there is a chance of world wide infection.

Back on Earth Jack is determined to bring Emma home and he works to identify the organism that infects and kills within a matter of days. But even if he locates the cause, his estranged wife is stranded on the space station, the last living member of the team.

From her romance novels to her medical thrillers, to this, sort of a scary medical-techno-thriller, Tess Gerritsen continues to grow as a writer, each book better than the last. She is one of my favorite living authors, she should be one of yours too. If you've missed Tess Gerritsen, you've missed a treat.

Summary: Great!
Review: I have read all of Gerritsen's books - this was the one I kept putting off though because of it's subject-matter. Space has not intrigued me - I have always found it boring and unbelieveable. But then I read Gravity. Gerritsen's story just mesmerized me. Love, space, and medicine are all inter-twined in this nail-biting thriller. If you like Gerritsen, you'll like this book. If you like medical thrillers, you'll like this book. Hell if you like READING, you'll like this book! READ IT!

Summary: One of Gerritsen's BEST
Review: While I've read a few of Tess Gerritsen's novels, this is one of my favorites. The story grabs you from the very first page & never lets up. Not only is it suspenseful but it also gives great insight into the space program & how the astronauts prepare themselves for their shuttle flights. Packed with plenty of action, scary moments & interesting characters, Emma Watson & Jack McCallum in particular are major standouts. I'm surprised that Hollywood never picked this for a movie-it would definitely give the Alien pictures a run for their money. Then again, maybe if it were on the big screen it wouldn't do justice to the book-something that happens more often than not in Tinseltown. Very highly recommended.

Summary: Gravity
Review: This book was excellent! I recall spotting the book and buying it for a mere 25 cents at the library. What a bargain for a book of this superior quality!
Gravity was a very suspenseful book that was nearly hot-glued to my hands. It's a thrilling, fictitious, science fiction (that almost seems real!) about an illness that had been released and killed many people, both on Earth and in space. The crewmembers in space or trapped, dying one by one, and are forbidden to come back to Earth because of the fear that it will spread. The scientists and doctors on Earth have to stop the disease before it becomes worse.
I highly recommend this book to anyone, whether you love science fiction or whether you can't stand the words. This story will haunt you forever in the best way there is. Trust me, you'll love the book. It's my favorite book and I don't even like to choose favorites! All of the doctors, scientists, teachers, and everyone else there is, pick up the book and read the first few pages and I guarantee that you will never be able to place the book back onto the "rejection table!"

Summary: Unwelcome Guests
Review: No environment contains as many medical threats as a space station. A small group of people living in close proximity, limited medical equipment, and a host of biological experiments always in process, all of this adds up to a high risk for infectious and deadly diseases. For this reason, incoming work is carefully screened for possible toxicity, and the team is trained in careful adherence to procedure. Yet the smallest of slips can spell disaster.

When a tragic accident back on earth triggers a momentary slip on the station, something unexpected is let loose. Dr. Emma Watson arrives on the station to discover the first signs of an inexplicable infection that has horrific symptoms. Without good equipment, all she can do is try to ease the symptoms and wait for a miracle. Back on earth, her husband tries desperately to find the source of the disease and a way to treat it. But government authorities start directly interfering with NASA efforts and McCallum begins to suspect the problem is worse than a bad bug.

Tess Gerritsen succeeds at the kind of medical thriller that is the Waterloo of writers with less capability. She has to balance a tremendous amount of science with the personal issues of men and women faced with a slow and ugly disease. Making everything seem real is a major challenge. Gerritsen was an internist before she took up writing and she has a knack for communicating medical details without stupefying the reader. In addition, she manages to master NASA speak well enough to convince this reader that her scenes were completely real.

But Gerritsen really shines at steadily building suspense in the interweaving of the personalities of her characters. What her characters feel and think will complete engages the reader. From the relationship problems of Jack and Emma to the kind of government agents you love to hate, the author offers the reader countless opportunities to become involved.

Gerritsen's flaw is her compulsion to make sure that all the clues are in place. While managing to keep the reader guessing, she withholds very little information. If the reader puts in all the effort required, it is possible to anticipate too many of the plot twists. The solution, of course, is to read it a bit faster and brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride. That should be no problem at all.

Summary: What a thrilling adventure, stunningly grasping our minds...
Review: My second Tess book and I am impressed. I find very little flaws with the story itself, which is excellent cause a book that makes sense is the best book. The story about a nasa mission in space gone bad with the help of a (Ahem Ahem) virus. Now here is a question that I askes myself before I bought this book, A virus in space, could this story really catch my imagination, and be a real page turner?...After reading the book my answer is YES. The chapters have good transitions. The beginnig can get a bit confusing with the deep sea adventure but the story explains itself later on. The blood and gore, especially the side effects of the virus are just mind blowing...You have to read this book. PS About the ending, not an excellent one but its pretty decent.

Summary: Gravity
Review: My wife is a Science and Technology widow... Science Fiction is how I dream up some of my best ideas and Gravity was one of my favorite books. It was a complete and wonderful surprise...I finished it in one sitting... Great, Great, Great. A must read and believable (except for the relatively happy ending) I work at NASA Ames Research Center in California and some of our work currently under review deals with Genomic experiments in space using the very same species. The logic and detail only add to the realism... who really knows this may be happing as we speak... the possibilities continue to haunt me as well as spark my curiosity. Extremophiles really do exist and we are only now starting to understand their capabilities. Cellular life can thrive in space infact some bacterial species can repair their own DNA after 50,000 RADS of Radiation completely destroyed it. I only wish Tess Gerritsen would write some more on the subject of space and the future of biological threats..As Stephen King agrees Gravity is a must read...
