Rating: Summary: One of My Favorites Review: The Raven Ring is one of my favorite books. It was the first book I read in the "Shadows over Lyra" novels, and discovered it was a stand-alone book. This can be your first Patricia C. Wrede book, but it will make you want to read more. The Raven Ring is about a young woman, Eleret, who goes to visit the city of Ciaron to collect her dead mothers belongings. There, she discovers many people who are interested in the raven ring her mother owned. With the help of her friend, the sly and witty thief Karvonen, and her guide/bodyguard/friend Lord Daner, she solves the mystery of the Raven Ring and finds love along the way. The Raven Ring is a great book which has just the right amount of mystery, romance, and fun in it. Patricia Wrede is a great author. The Raven Ring is the kind of book you will want to have on your bookshelf to read over and over again.

Rating: Summary: Very entertaining. Review: This book was, at the very least, good to read on a rainy day. Although it wasn't that fabulous overall, I would still suggest it if you are looking for a slightly mindless yet entertaining fantasy to delve into. However, I did like her dragon series vastly more.
Rating: Summary: Another one of the Lyra series Review: This completed the second of Patricia Wrede's books I have read. The Harp of Imach Thyssel was the first. (I read it in the first place because there was a quest on a mud that referenced it and I needed help) This book brought about an excellent understanding of Eleret and the Cilhar as well as the Shadowborn. I'm looking to find all the Lyra books now. I was saddened to finish these books so quickly, but I absolutely could not put them down until I read more and more and more. Also, the age level is much higher than her early books which seem to be focused on a more adolescent audience. Oh, and thank you Patricia for your gift of words which have only begun to entertain me.
Rating: Summary: I think this is one of PAtricia's best books. Review: This is a great book! It's very interesting. Eleret is brave and headstrong, yet naive, Danner has a big head and tries to act tough, and KArvonnen is the prankster and very likeable. This book tells a great story and I would recomend it to anybody!
Rating: Summary: A Truly Wonderful Book! Review: This is definetly my all time favorite book! It's colorfull and full of imagination. When you read it you feel like you are actually part of the book. The land of Lyra is wonderful with it's different cultures and people. All together it is a GREAT book!
Rating: Summary: One of my favorites Review: This is one of my all time favorite books. Eleret is a great heroine, even if she is a bit naive sometimes. The heroes are also wonderfully characterized. Daner, the rather wealthy, arrogant wizard and Karvonen the humorous, mischievious thief who doesn't like wizards really liven up the story. They unite only to help face the Shadow-born, an evil that has long been imprisoned. I found myself eagerly turning the pages to read on. I hope that you might read this, it is a wonderful book. My brother even wanted to read it.
Rating: Summary: Terrible!!! Review: This is one of the worste books I've ever read. I picked this one because of all the good reviews but there should be at least one accurate review. This book was boring: it had no action, no suspense, and the writing was lame. I kept waiting for somthing interesting to happen but Wred must have forgotten that she can't write. The ending was terrible. Very ant-climactic. I hate how the story takes place in the same city for only three days. This is the first and last thing I wil read by Patricia C. Wrede. If you are interested in a real fantasy book, check out "Wizard's First Rule" by Terry Goodkind. The Raven Ring was pointless, lacked believable characters, lacked a gripping plot, and was painfully predictable and slow. I want to give this book a half-star. But check out Goodkind, you too Wrede. You might learn something.
Rating: Summary: The last of Lyra Review: This is the final chapter to the Lyra novels written by Patricia C. Wrede. If you enjoyed Shadows Over Lyra, then this is your kind of book. I have read it about 5 or 6 times and still enjoy it. Very good author!!
Rating: Summary: Good book, read it. Review: This, like other Patricia C. Wrede books, has an element of romance... but it's much better done than in the other ones. Most of the characters are very ordinary, but the few that stand out, especially Karvonen, really stand out. The boook is sprinkled with humour and mystery and is overall a very good book. I reccommend it to anyone who likes stories set in a pre-industrial type realistic fantasy land.
