Rating: Summary: Better than the last two Review: Where Desecration and The Mark dragged, Remnant speeds along. This book doesn't waste time in annoying details that have long since ceased interesting the reader and instead moves at a quick pace to the next important event. That being said, it does have its weaknesses. Carpathia is now just a shadow sitting in a palace in New Babylon, Leon does not behave like the False Prophet - the #2 behind the AntiChrist himself - instead he is no more impressive than any other sycophant. We are starting to lose the focus on other characters such as Buck who has all but been dropped from the story line. One gets the sense at times that LaHaye and Jenkins just want to get this project over with. However, overall, this was an enjoyable read, with real moments of suspense - something lacking in previous books - and although the reader may not agree completely with the authors beliefs regarding the end-times, the Remnant can still be an enjoyable read as you wonder "what will happen next".
Rating: Summary: Can't get enough of these books and this author Review: My wife bought the first Left Behind just to see what all the hype was about. Now see can't put them down. When she is finished I pass them on the nurses at work and they too all say that this author knows how to write a "page burner". Before you buy it here though we have found them over 5 bucks cheaper at Wall-Mart at less then 10 buck per book paper back.
Rating: Summary: Is the book's purpose to please man or God? Review: I am a born-again, spirit-filled believer and I have been diving into every single book by LaHaye and Jenkins. The first book was so good that I couldn't put it down. Others such as Tribulation Force and Nicolae, didn't appeal to me as much, neither did The Indwelling. I continued to read every series, however and I enjoyed reading both Assasins and Desecration. As a result, I was looking forward to The Remnant. And it did not disappoint. I will admit, it took me a while to finish this book because it was quite boring in the beginning. However after you get past the first few chapters, the book definitely takes off. I read 200 pages in the last three days and finished the book last night. Each of the remaining characters getting into one situation after another and I could get a clear picture of the chaos that was described. From the time of the bowls of wrath, I was flipping my Bible to Revelations 16, while I was reading the book. People, you need to enjoy the book for what it is...Christian non-fiction. This as well as the other series are just two men's interpretation of the end times. If you don't agree, fine. They never claimed to know detail-by-detail what was going to happen. The most important thing is that through these books, they have been able to convince people to give their hearts to the Lord. Regardless if they're dead wrong, people are thinking, people are continuing to read these book series and people are accepting God's precious gift of salvation.God Bless LaHaye and Jenkins and I hope that each book fulfills God's purpose.
Rating: Summary: The Remnant Review: As with the other 9 books, Tim Lahaye has made this a wonder rendition of the end times. I have thoroughly enjoyed the previous 9 and the Remnant was wonderful. It has scripture and action and is based on Revelations. I am looking forward to #11. It is disheartening to find out a character is killed but to know that he or she is with God makes is perfect. I can't tell you enough to read or listen to the entire series. It will change your life dramatically.
Rating: Summary: The beginning of the Great Tribulation Review: This 10th. book in the "Left Behind" series begins with the bombing of Petra which is ineffective against the Believers. The book continues with Chang, the Christian mole, dodging bullets at GC Headquarters, and Chloe, Hannah and Mac attempting to rescue George from Greece. The Bowl Judgments begin to pour onto the Earth and it's evident that the Believers are immune, while the GC loyalists suffer greatly. The style in this book is similar to the rest of the series, with scatter-shot views of events occurring in different places in the world. The later books are certainly less compelling than the earlier ones, but I keep buying these books and reading them to see how it all turns out (although Revelation tells us that!) Kudos to the authors who, while not the greatest of literary talents, have certainly focused people's attention on the Tribulation as no other modern writers have.
Rating: Summary: Another Left Behind book where nothing happens! Review: Just read the last few pages if you want to see what will happen! I can't believe how boring this book was. It was torture to read. I really loved the first few books in the series. The idea was compelling and the writing was pretty good. Now, I believe the authors think they have become such a commercial success that they feel obliged to turn out a book every few months. The books are very short; huge margins are found on every page yet it is beginning to take forever to get through each one. And, like I previously stated, NOT ONE THING HAPPENS! I know one thing, I won't be buying any more of these books; I have wasted my time. Now, on to Jane Austen where everything is wonderfully written and you can't wait to see what happens next (even if you've read it ten times before!).
Rating: Summary: If this is a sign of future books - I'll save my money... Review: I'm halfway through this book and don't know if I will be able to finish it. This reads more like a Bruce Willis action film than it does about the rapture and battle of good against evil. I'm afraid the authors have forgotten the message they were trying to send with these books and seem to focus on more action and intrigue than sending a message about the scriptures. It's a real shame - up until the last 2 books I had throughly enjoyed this series - I just really feel that this is more geared towards Suspense and Action than it is focussed on God, Evil versus Good and Armageddon. Who knows, maybe the end of this book will have more redeeming qualities
Rating: Summary: awesome book! Review: this book was great!! I don't know what those people were talking about how it wasn't as good as the others. The plot to is was just really good, and you couldn't tell what would happen next. The ending was really good too, and the next book should be one of the best yet. I bought this book right when it came out and it was money worth spent!
Rating: Summary: Read "End Times Fiction" instead Review: Readers of the "Left Behind Series" are advised to read Gary DeMar's book "End Times Fiction". I am not qualified as a theologian, but DeMar's book makes more sense to me than do the Left Behind books. The Bible does not contain or support virtually any of Lahaye's theories of the last days. In fact, the last days have already happened. Premillenial dispensationalism (as per Lahaye and Jenkins) has only been written since the 1850's and is not scriptural or even the position of the historic church. If you believe what you read in the Bible (including Revelation), you will see that these authors do not find support for their positions there. I just wonder how many of the readers of these books have read the relevant scriptures for themselves.
Rating: Summary: Okay...but not as good as the other ones. Review: I have read all of the LEFT BEHIND series books and I found that this latest one is not as good as the previous ones. I liked the description on how everyone was on fire at Petra when it was bombed and that no one was injured. I also liked the banter between Abdullah, Mac and Albie. But what bothered me was that Buck and Rayford, the original Tribulation Force members were not much in action. I liked that Chloe got her chance at some action in the assignment in Greece. I thought she deserved that one. I also think though that there were too many pilots on the Trib Force. I mean where are the doctors,lawyers... etc?? More than half of the Trib Force are pilots. I think the authors here should really spruce up on their characters and plots. Nicolae Carparthia is getting more blood thirsty and psychotic everyday. It didn't surprise me during the plague of the sun scorching that Nicolae went outside and sunbathed while his henchmen and employees took refuge underground. But what bothered me was that he also didn't do too much during the 2 and a half years this book went through. What I would really like is Nicolae coming face-to-face with either Buck or Rayford again. I was disappointed in the lack of action. But I still give this 3 stars because the ending is suggesting that the 11th one will be more of a thriller than this one.
