Summary: Take some hints from "Readers Digest Condensed Books"
Review: This series which started with such a bang has been s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out far too long - the decision appears to have been made to go for sales at the expense of the story. The Remnant is very well written, but you get the feeling it could have been edited into one or two chapters in one of the other books. Also, the villains are less menacing than farcical at this point and there are so many pages to fill that they're running out of ways to keep the bar high. This may be the last book in the series I purchase - now I'll wait until they're available at the library.

Summary: This is why most series are three volumes
Review: Anybody who has gotten to this book has probably read the previous nine books in the series. So you have to get this book just to get the little bit of information this book provides. Otherwise this seemed like 300 pages of filler. The disappointing part for me was that the book had several new plagues and some exciting events, but they went by without really having much effect. I remember in the early part of the series where the earthquake was really exciting. People were being hurt and the characters lost some people they cared about. There was a lot of suspense. Now we have some major plagues that make the earthquake look like small potatoes. However, Jenkins seems to have lost the desire to thrill us. Instead of describing a horrific disaster that has repercussions on the characters, and gives us some suspenseful situtations. We get Jenkins telling us the plague has happened. Then in a couple of sentences telling us it is horrific and kills hundreds of thousands. There is no effect on the characters or the story. The book became very boring once I realized the protagonists were invulnerable to everything. How exciting can a deadly plot twist be, when you know that no one will die or even be injured? Not very exciting. I made it worse for myself by reading the Christ Clone trilogy just before reading the Remnant. The Christ Clone trilogy was very suspenseful with a lot of excitement, and it highlighted how far Jenkins has let his story drop on the suspense-o-meter.

Summary: They have lost their way.
Review: I loved the first nine books in this series. I loved their imagination and interpretation of the end of days. They did a great job in the first few books to really build the characters and involve you in their struggle. I could not put the first 5 books down. I read them straight through. However, this book is just a list of events. It is neither engaging or addicting. It seems like they released this book because they feel a need to complete the series.

Summary: The series is dragging on too long
Review: I have read all the books in the series up to now and the last few have very much disappointed me. The first few were so breathtaking that I counted the days until the next one was released. Now I feel most of the story is just filler to stretch the story line out as far as it will go.
With this tenth edition I'm finally calling it quits and will not read another until the series is completed. This is the only way I feel I can state my opinion that enough is enough already.

Summary: I was left behind!
Review: I must admit I was very much disappointed in not only this book but the last two! The series began with such a bang - holding your interest page after page. Now... sadly, the writers have choosen to drag the story out in an effort to simply make more money. I am so disappointed with them that I doubt I will read the next book... Honestly - they could have summed this up 2 books ago!

Summary: I'm hooked - can't wait for #11!
Review: Okay, I have to admit two years ago when I first read "Left Behind," I was not impressed. I even gave it a less-than-flattering review. I found the characters to be shallow and the plot convoluted. Since then, I have had a change of heart. My mother got hooked on the series after a conversation with my cousin at her father's funeral. Mom bought the first four books and since I was looking for something to read, I reread the first book. Then I read the second book, and the third. I read books four and five in a weekend! I just couldn't put them down!

Now I'm completely hooked and simply cannot wait for the next book to come out!! I am a Christian and while I don't believe that the Bible should be taken completely literally (some of the plagues were a little unbelievable, and no one really knows what will happen leading up to Christ's return), what this series has accomplished so far is that it makes people think.

This series is bringing people to God and I think that is the most important thing. Sure, the plots may be thin at times, characters get whiny and annoying (Chloe), but overall I would highly recommend the complete Left Behind series, including The Remnant (the title of which can stand either for the believers left on earth or what is left of the plague-riddled earth itself).

Just remember to read these books with an open mind. I think that was my problem when I read the first book the first time - I did not have an open mind. I went in with preconcieved notions. And if you have any doubt about the awesome power of God, the first chapter of The Remnant will chase away those doubts. Just awesome!!

Summary: Pitiful.
Review: Some of the reasons why The Remnant is pitiful, and why the left behind series is degrading to mediocrity. Keep in mind I love left behind, and the first six books were wonderful.

1. The dialouge, it is sad really. You will find that rayford, buck and others will repeatedly say the same thing over and over from book to book. Not only that, the dialouge in this book is painful to read.

2. Spiritual protection. This has been milked to the hilt, it is beginning to be sickening. Part of the suspense and excitement in the first six books was who was going to be killed in what judgement and how would this judgement affect the characters and so forth, this element has been stripped from the books in favor of making all of the characters invincible from bullets, darkness, heat and assorted nuclear weaponry. Since no one can die now, what is the point?

3. Characters, they have been stripped of all personality.

I agree with one reviewer that tsion is boring.

Rayford and buck are not characters anymore but simply cardboard cut-outs, they might as well kill them off.

Chaim is not a character, but a spiritual being devoid of any personality.

Chloe is a whiny, nagging ditz of a character that I hope is killed off.

Leah and hannah are one person in two bodies.

Mac and abdullah are now the main characters, the only ones with anything of a personality.

George was added for little reason, I don't care for him.

This book was awful, the good thing is, it can only get better (I hope) from this point.

Summary: simply awful
Review: Regardless of your theological viewpoint on the endtimes, it is hard to get past the shallow, irritating characters, silly plotlines and insipid dialogue. The authors are doing a serious injustice to Christianity by continuing to churn out these poorly written books. My guess would be that most people buy them only because they have read the previous umpteen in the series and just want to see how it ends.

Well, I have a suggestion for them: read the book of Revelation and you will get the idea and save some money.

Summary: Awsome Reading! Great Christian Fiction!
Review: I first heard of the LEFT BEHIND series a few years ago when jest the first three books were out. However, I didn't pay much attention to it until ASSASSINS, the 6th book came out. I got curious, bought the first book, and got completely hooked! I just could'nt put it down, and finished it in 2 days. Well, I had to keep going, so I bought the entire series, and have read all 10 books now at least 5 times each. THE REMNANT was just awsome! It's full of action, intrigue, plagues from heaven, and the story is just superb. I especially loved the account of the bombing of petra, and the last plagues to fall on the earth.
I strongly reccomend these books to anyone who is looking for a great read. The gospel is clearly presented, and the prophecies are very well interpreted. Of course, no one knows exactly how these things will happen, but the authors have done a wonderful job in telling it the best way they can.

Please, whatever you do, don't pay any attention to those who waste their time writing bad reviews. The phenomenal success of the series is enough to let anyone know how good this series really is.
But hey, don't take mine or anyone else's word for it.
Check these books out for yourself, and only then make your opinion.
You will see why evryone loves the LEFT BEHIND series.
I know I do! I can't wait for Book 11, coming out April 2003!
