Summary: A Step Backward
Review: I've read all the Left Behind Books and am nearly finished with The Remnant. Overall, I'm disappointed in this installment. The first three books are great reads, then the series began to lag (for purposes of stretching out the story, putting more books on the market, and more cash for the authors). I thought the pace picked up in the last two books, but The Remnant is more stretching. Nothing here advances the narrative. I can't believe that George's rescue takes up such a large portion of this book. There's a misguided attempt to develop Chloe's character by turning her from a mother figure into an action figure. I wish Chang was more than just the late David with a different name. There are so many plot threads throughout this series that simply and conveniently end with the death of the character - Steve Plank is an example in this book. The "other" group of believers discovered in Chicago are nearly ignored in this book. What the series lacks at this point is a compelling character to care about. Chaim is converted. Hattie is dead. There's no one left that makes you turn the page to see what happens to them. We all know that Buck, Rayford, Chloe, and few others will live through to the end. What a shocker if one them was killed! Think about it, Tim and Jerry. I vote to kill off Chloe next!

But I'm hooked! I want to see how this ends. Yes, we know how it ENDS but how will the authors bring this to an end? ....

I also need to add that this series has at times enriched my relationship with the Lord. There are moments in the books when I feel so thankful for the Lord and what he does for me, and the love he shows for me. I have been enriched by the Left Behind series and that's reason enough to keep reading.

Summary: The Series Continues to be Capitvating!
Review: One would think, that at this point, this series would have "lost it's original appeal". However, I still find myself waiting (rather impatiently) for each new series. I have found that the authors have remained true to the original "script" (the bibilical account of the tribulation period as outlined in the Book of Revelation) and have still been able to create and maintain an interesting plot around the bibilical account.

In this installment of the series, the Jewish remnant have been miraculously saved at Petra and our Tribulation Force members continue to find ways to further the purpose of God while giving Carpathia a "black eye". Even though they themselves are in constant peril and the "safe house" has been compromised, they continue to move forward in the face of what seems to be insurmountable odds.

For those who are not familiar with scripture or do not have a relationship with God, the extremes that the Trib Force find themselves in and their continued resistance against the enemy may seem far fetched. However, when you trust God completely, you know that the scenarios depicted in this series is not a fairy tale but they are a testament to the awesome power of God!

I am truly amazed at the literary gifting of the authors. Being an avid reader, I know that bibilical interpretations can sometimes be more than the average reader can comprehend because the Book of Revelation doesn't "make sense" to the human mind. These authors have done an excellent job of scripting a wonderful literary piece around the truth of God that some people would never be aware of it were not for this series.

Summary: Another wonderful sequel to "Left Behind"
Review: Every time I read or listen to these books, my heart quickens and my love and faith in God increases. "The Remnant" is just as thought-provoking as the rest in the series. These books are fictional, but based on the Revalation and other books in the bible. Each book always leaves me waiting in anticipation for the next in the series, wondering what will happen to the believers as well as the AntiChrist.

Summary: A good build up for the final two books.
Review: The build up for the final two books is what this book is about, and from what I read in this book I sure don't want to be around when all hell breaks loose. The torcher that the non-believers are going through is horendous, and the idea of having dead sealife by the seaport doesn't bring pleasant thoughts either. If you read the first nine books, this book won't disappoint you. I feel that the book is preparing you for the worse to come. Something is going to happen in the next two books that is not going to be good, but you are not sure what it will be. So, be prepared.

Summary: Not very good.. God forgive me..
Review: I'm sorry but this was poorly written. I've enjoyed the series up to this point but this is not very good. I love LaHaye but he should have read the book and at least spiced it up.

Summary: Much better then Desecration
Review: Book 9 "Desecration" was such a disappointment that I almost skipped this one. But, this story moves and keeps your interest then entire time. I think that this is the best of the series to date. Just make sure that you allow yourself enough time the read it in one setting because once you get started you won't want to stop.

Summary: Ever wonder...?
Review: To make this short, this is how it is going to be someday. I believe this series and the latest installment to be great reading and a keen insight to the coming tribulation the world will someday face. Read it - think about it - look around you and compare it to what is happening today and the book will take on a whole new light. Imagine yourself in the characters shoes. Rayford,Cloe,Buck and Chaim, and what they go through for what they know to be true. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Fun and Hijinks during the Great Tribulation?
Review: Thank goodness this book picked up the speed of the passage of time. Considering that the last several books only covered a few DAYS each I was beginning to believe that there was no hope of this series ever being finished before a rapture occurs. If the authors really believe what they are saying, and their aim is to "save souls" they might want to pick up the pace a bit. After all what are all of the "unbelievers" going to do if the authors leave us behind before the series is complete?

It is obvious that Jenkins and LeHaye are struggling with their own fundamentalism in writing larger parts for the women. Chloe finally gets an assignment - but it would have been more believeable and on target if it had to do with something for the cooperative of which she is the "CEO". Show us the inner workings of how she coordinates things. Leah, a woman with an opinion and a mind of her own is almost entirely missing from the storyline, I guess that is what happens to an annoying woman without a husband to keep her in line.

And Ming Toy... Well now, that's a woman's place - give her a romance. They missed a delightful humorous opportunity in Ming's cross-dressing disguise. They could have had the pilot fall in love with Ming(the man) and then have her save his soul by "curing him of his homosexuality." He'd have the object he lusted for, and it would be "a holy love". My, my, my.

Even though my theology is far more liberal than the authors, I will keep reading this series through to the end, and I am quite sure I am one that the authors would have killed off in the bombing of San Fransisco. Now that everyone else in the world is suffering while believers can move about freely, why don't Jenkins and LeHaye have the characters start doing good for other people, rather than the showy high drama rescues? Wasn't the message of Jesus built on loving the unlovable? Jesus didn't spend all of his time with people that already knew him and understood his message. Maybe the characters could start walking the walk. Go and convert those undecideds!

Summary: Well below par...
Review: Boring. There is nothing to this tape. No real story, suspense or drama. The narration was well below par of the previous tapes. And, the music has got to go. You get three minutes of fluff at the start of the tape. I agree with an earlier review, either they are milking it or, he has lost what he is trying to say. All the previous books were better edited, narrated and written. I hope that the remaining tapes are of better quality as we pretty much no how the story is going to end.
