Summary: NOT VERY HAPPY
Review: I WAS NOT TO HAPPY WITH THIS BOOK IT DID NOT HAVE THE FEELING OF THE FIRST BOOKS AND THE EXCITEMENT WAS NOT THERE, BUT INSPITE OF IT I THINK THE BOOK WAS OKAY AND I WILL BE WAITING ON THE NEXT ONE...

Summary: The worst book of the series
Review: This volume shows extreme unbalance with the first half totally concentrates on the escape from Greece/the deliverance of Petra from the missles. The second half is very boring with many episodes copied straight out of the Bible, e.g. the openning of the earth to swallow the rebels. This is the only book in the series that I had to force myself many times to finish reading. Also, I hope there will no more airport-escaping scenes in the next books. Maybe my expectation is too high, but I really think that the authors have not done a good job with this one.

Summary: Fundamentalist Christians Against World Peace
Review: This book continues to perpetuate the myth that working towards world peace on a global scale is the anti-Christ's goal. Another myth continually advocated in this series of books is that Americans are the chosen people. This book undermines the belief that Jesus loves ALL people, regardless of whether they live within the boundaries of the United States or the United Emirates. I give this book two thumbs down for promoting right-wing fundamentalist Christian rhetoric, which leads our world down a path of racism, war, segregation, and terrorism.

Summary: Avid Reader
Review: I read this book and have learned a lot from it. After reading this book, and the last two series, I have began reading Revelations in the bible. I also read Revelations: The Years 2000 by Janet Markey which is on the same subject matter. I think it's time we all put our lives into perspective and make sure we are not Left Behind. Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins are doing a wonderful job in presenting the truths of what will hapen at the end of time. It's scary but it is fact!

Summary: Ready.... FIRE! Aim...
Review: Wow.. Did this book miss the mark.. (no pun intended). I am a hyper fan of the left-behind series, and this one left me in a serious lurch. I think they're not sure how in the world to dramatize the end of life as we know it before the armageddon. This book meanders around, and has zero focus. The first 210 pages of the book revolved around the crew in Greece. Its so pathetically looking for page material, you wonder why in the world they published it. In prior books, many things would be going on, and a little operation like the one in Greece would only have taken a few pages in any other book, certainly not the 200+ pages this monstrosity devotes to it.

I will still be devoted to the series however; I can't imagine its easy writing about the Apoacalypse, how to describe what will happen then is difficult. I'm dying for the next Dramatic audio series to come out, what a phenominal job they do.

God Bless!

Summary: Back on Track
Review: Back on track, The Remnant covers the continuing story of the members of the Tribulation Force, as the Antichrist tightens his grip on the world, with one member of the Force rescued as another is martyred.

Frankly, after the last book in the series, I have to admit I was starting to lose interest. The writing seemed rushed, and the characters seemed flat and two-dimensional. Worse, it was hard to tell any two characters apart, since they all spoke the same way, and had the same attitude and characterization. Thankfully, that's all changed, and the series seems to be back on track with this well-written installment.

I believe you'll enjoy this book. It's a well-written look at the end of the world, according to Biblical prophecy (at least from the authors' perspective). It's populated with interesting characters (Rayford Steele, pilot, de facto leader of a group of rebels against the corrupt world leader Nicolae Carpathia, the Antichrist; Buck Williams, writer, his wife Chloe, Rayford's daughter, CEO of an international cooperative of believers, Tsion Ben Judah, spiritual leader of the Force, leader of the divinely-protectedremnant of Israel, and many others).

Another good point is the level of detail in this book. Unlike the previous, you actually get a feel for the various disasters that occur, and how it would feel to experience them first-hand. Details aren't glossed over, and events from previous books in the series impact this book.

The book deals with the Tribulation (the worst 7 years in history, beginning shortly after Jesus Christ returns for His own), roughly at the middle of that period. There are 3 major threads interwoven; a rescue mission, God's providing haven for the Remnant of Israel (hence the title), and the continuing evangelization of the dwindling numbers of people undecided between following Jesus Christ or following the Antichrist.

A major enjoyable point was the increase in believabilty. For instance, in previous books, the diabolical Antichrist, his False Prophet, and the corrupt world government that he runs, the Global Community, were portrayed as Keystone Cops, inept, bumbling, and foolish. Not so here;...

In conclusion, I can wholeheartedly recommend this book. It's well-written, enjoyable, and has me salivating for the next entry in the series.

Summary: This book is one of the best written ones of the series
Review: Basically, a satisfying read and this one is better written. One can tell more time was taken to write this one. Despite others' complaints in this forum, I found the second half to be a refreshing change of pace (after all how many airport escapes has been in this series......dozens!....hopefully there will be no more....enough is enough)

Summary: Jesus is going to GET you!
Review: Lahaye's series has done much for us Christians! Now we have an entertaining and violently satisfying epic that teaches us not only who to hate (non-Christians, gays, Catholics) but what cruel deaths and tortures our Loving God will provide while we gleefully look on!

The book itself is far better than the prior two, although the character development needs some polishing. I was really disappointed they didn't spend more time in that area as it would be more of an impact to the reader when they read how God slaughters them. The pace of the book was just right, making it quite the page turner!

Thanks to The Left Behind series America is becoming more acceptable of the concept of the End Times, which means the strings of guilt and fear are planted and ready to be pulled! September 11th was not only a God sent to Fundamentalist politics, but to LaHaye's Left Behind Enterprise as well! Time Magazine reports sales have already gone up 60%! Those Muslim infidels think they've got the corner of the doomsday market with their silly Jihad! Ha!

Summary: Picking up the Pace and Restoring Hope
Review: Most of the people I talk to about the Left Behind series have the same response, "It started off good, but the last few books have been really bad." I can't disagree, the previous books have lagged badly. Desecration was better than most. But The Remnant, really restored my hope that this series would end well. The writers seem to have gotten back on pace with the first couple of books. This book moves the action along, reveals the gospel message clearly several times, and ends with an appropriate cliffhanger. (It didn't just stop in the middle of the action.) I REALLY enjoyed this book. If you have been reading the series, you will too. You might even have your hope restored!

Summary: Not impressed.
Review: The Remnant is definitely not the best book in the series. Nor do I consider it to the be the worst (*cough*Soul Harvest*cough*), either.

My biggest complaint is that the first half of the book covers about 3 days, and the last half covers about a year. It's gotten to the point where I believe the authors' favorite words are "4 months later...". Have they realized that they only have 2 books left to wrap up the series?

Of course, no matter the quality, people like me will buy the next books, just because we can't stand not knowing what will happen. What if Christ returns the day before the publication of the last book.......... I won't complain! :)
